Help choosing wedding dress for my post pardum body?

I had a baby last year and my body is still not in the best of shape. I also quit smoking, drinking, and taking my prescribed medication when I got pregnant so I gained alot of extra weight..which is sad that I ended up looking like this but Im very happy for my very healthy little boy. Any ways?I am getting married in June and I do exercise, eat healthy and all that jazz. I am slowly losing weight but I know I will still feel uncomfortable in my own skin by the time the wedding rolls around. My fiance is amazing and loves me no matter what?I just want to look great. We dont have very many good bridal shops around here so I dont get very much help on what would be flattering to my body. I was also needing to find a good..no GREAT form of shapewear.

Following are four dress styles I like. Can anyone suggest anything?

dress #1

dress #2

dress #3

dress #4

  • I love 1, but I'm not sure it's a real "wedding" dress, but I guess it depends on if this is a formal affair. 4 is beautiful. 2 is eh, and 3 i think would cling in all the wrong places.

    Congrats!

  • I think number 4 would be the most flattering if you're still trying to lose weight.

  • I would think about what dress of yours you have in your wardrobe that you like the way it looks on you....

Often wrap dresses are flattering for plus-size figures.  Do you want something to show off your curves (with the unwanted parts sucked in the shapewear), or something that is more floaty and isn't form fitting?

I think sometimes us larger women think a loose-fitting dress might look better, but I think you might be surprised at how good you look in form fitting dresses.

As for shapewear, I LOVE corsets.  Some wedding dresses have corsets built into them, which is convenient.  They literally give you a waist and a curvy silhouette.

Then I think an A-line for the skirt area is most flattering for larger women; don't want to add extra pouf with a ballgown-shape skirt.

Are you going to have to order from online?  Is there anyway you can make a day trip to a larger salon?

Have you ever watched Say Yes to the Dress on tv?  I've seen plus size women on that show; maybe if you a girl trying on dresses that has a similar figure to yours, you might get some ideas.

Good luck!  Like you said, I'm sure your fiance will think you look beautiful in whatever you wear.
