Loestrin 24fe Savings Card?

Not sure if this is the best board to post this on, but here goes. My insurance doesn't cover my Loestrin prescription, but for the last few years I've been able to get it for $24/month with a prescription savings card that comes with the sample pack my doctor gives me when I go for my annual. I just went to the pharmacy and found out my savings card expired December 31st (I didn't even think to check the expiry since I just picked up my script refill and activated it in September), and now they want to charge me almost $90/month which isn't going to happen. The pharmacy also claims this savings program ended, and the company no longer offers this plan so I'm out of luck. Has anyone here gotten a 2011 savings card by chance, or is the pharmacy maybe correct? I'm going to call my doc on Monday, but thought maybe I'd luck out and find out from someone here first.

Re: Loestrin 24fe Savings Card?

  • i just posted this a couple weeks ago lol you can call your gyno for the new card, but apparently if you don't have insurance it is $24 off the original price. Also, my mom told me today that you can get prescriptions filled at walmart for like $4!! So I am going to try that first.
  • Thank you! So it went from $24 total to $24 off the base? I guess that's better than nothing. Let me know if you find they fill them for cheap at Walmart, I thought that would be the cost for generics, but I'd be interested to know what they charge for Loestrin!
  • As an update, I made some calls and here are the rates being charged before including the $24 savings card. Looks like I might switch after all.

    Walmart     $76.84
    Target        $76.99
Rite Aid      91.99 with Rite Aid Discount Card $78.30

  • I switched to Costco pharmacy for my Loestrin 24fe...I think it was $60 there, and Target, Cvs, and Walgreens all wanted $75+

My savings card just expired as well, in December, but I haven't found a new one yet. Though my husband's insurance will pay a little, I still wince every month handing over the $50.

  • I think they ALL expired on 12/31!  I went to this BCP b/c my ortho-low was suddenly $60+.  It was a very unpleasant surprise when I went to pick it up at CVS early this month. I'm getting an IUD in a couple of weeks, so hopefully, I won't have to deal with the ever-changing BCP costs anymore!

ETA:  The pharmacist indiciated that everyone's savings expired in December, but she had no idea why.

  • I haven't been on in a while, so sorry for the delay. That Walmart price sucks!! very disappointing. I called my gyno today and she is mailing the new card. I have like a week and a half left so I will let you ladies know if the new one is a good deal or if it is time to switch. Unless, someone else has already used the new one.
  • The promotion has changed and instead of the cost being $24, it's $24 off with or without insurance. This brings the cost of mine to $40/month. I'm not willing to pay that much for birth control, so dh and I have decided to try FAM.

  • You can go freerxplus.com/FRP00834 and copy a discount card to help with prescriptions. It reallly has helped me to save on my presciptions. Good luck.

i got this card on the internet, gonna try it tomorrow.....

    btw, how's pricing thing now???

    cheers

  • I just got my first pack of Loestirin this year and had to fork over $46 dollars for it. Normally it has been $24. The way it was explained to me was that the retail price was $98. My insurance pharmacy card got it down to $76, and the pharmacist at Walgreens said with the savings card will only save me $30. Apparently the savings card rules have changed. Made an appt with my GYN to discuss a new birth control.

  • May be you should try this at International Drug Mart, where you can at discounted prices always.

    Is Estadiol same as Loestrin?
