Valentine's Day Poll

Does anyone know what you're getting your H for Valentine's Day?

How do you typically celebrate Valentine's Day?

Doing anything special for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?

H and I originally agreed that we were going to get eachother cards and a box candy.  But he spilled the beans that he bought something else that he found while not even looking.  So, now I feel like I need to find him something else in addition to candy.

We usually exchange cards & candy and go to our favorite restaurant.

I don't have anything special planned, but he's apparently full of surprises.

Re: Valentine's Day Poll

  • I have no idea what I'm doing.  H isn't very romantic - he usually buys me flowers, which I love-love-love, and I usually buy him a sappy card, which I know he doesn't really read... But we don't do much outside of that.  I keep thinking maybe I should try to do something extra since we're married and all... but I doubt I will :)
  • Not yet.  We have never exchanged gifts, but we thought it might be nice to get something small for each other for our first married Valentine's Day.

We usually "did something nice for each other" as a gift (I generally give him a full-body massage) and cooked a nice dinner together.  Two years in a row, he has surprised me with flowers.

  • H is very romantic, but we never do anything special for Valentine's Day.  Last year, I don't even think we bothered with cards.  I doubt we'll do anything besides just cook a nice dinner together (which we normally do when he doesn't have to work nights anyway).
  • My b-day is 2 weeks after Valentines Day so we usually dont go too crazy.  Typically its dinner and some flowers/candy and a card.

  • We always celebrate Valentine's Day as our anniversary of being together (we didn't meet or start dating on Valentine's, we just decided we would celebrate our time together every year on that day).  There's no set activity, but we might go out for dinner or a concert.

This year I don't know if we'll do anything... I'm waiting to see how "normal" I feel and how things are by then.

  • I don't think we are doing anything. Maybe a card and some candy! Although I hope he surprises me with flowers, I love getting flowers!

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I just can't imagine that. I hope you get to feeling better soon.  It's a long process.  *hugs*

  • I picked up a Vday card for DH yesterday at the mall.  I'm hoping for a card and flowers. :)
  • H has always said "Valentines Day is a girls holiday" - in other words, he gets me a gift, but doesn't want one in return.  He recently started his own business so I offered to get him a business card holder from Things Remembered for vday but he declined saying he typically carries his business cards in his wallet.  I'll most likely get him a nice thoughtful card as I usually do, and I'm sure he'll get a gift for me as he usually does - we'll go out for a nice dinner on Sunday, and I'll make him a nice dinner on Monday - both to celebrate.
  • Does anyone know what you're getting your H for Valentine's Day?  This may sound a little silly but we bought a Wii and a few extras to go with it and said that it'll be our Valentine's Day gift to each other.  It should be delivered tomorrow!

How do you typically celebrate Valentine's Day?  This is our second Valentine's Day together.  Last year we were both broke so we did cards and dinner at home.

Doing anything special for your first Valentine's Day as a married couple?  We'll probably do the same thing this year.

  • Our dating anniversary was in November, and now our wedding anniversary is (obviously).  Then there's the holidays, then my birthday is March, and his is May.

We've always skipped Valentine's Day, because that's just too much in a row.  Also, there's really nothing TO celebrate, ya know?  It's just a holiday popularized by retail to make up for post-holiday shopping/spending slumps.

We are going to be low-key about Valentine's Day too. Nov: Anniversary: Dec: Christmas. Jan: My birthday.  March: His birthday. February just needs to be normal lol.

  • We said a while ago that we were not going to get into every holiday. We will always celebrate Christmas and birthdays, and our anniversary. It is just too much so we are just keeping it simple, with cards and I will cook a fancier dinner than usual. he loves to eat.
