Wine & Cheese Party- entree ideas
Hi Everyone!
This is completely last minute, but pretty typical for us lol We're having a Wine & Cheese party this evening and I'm stumped about something heavier to serve. We're having ppl over at 630, so most won't have had dinner. Any ideas are appreciated! TIA!
Re: Wine & Cheese Party- entree ideas
I would do some kind of heavy dip like spinach and artichoke
lots of olives or tampenade
bruschetta
fruit
baked brie
variety of bread and crackers
maybe like little quiches
isn't there some kind of proscuitto wrapped aspagus
maybe like a carmelized onion tart
I'm going to a beer and wine tasting tonight so I'll scope out what kind of food will be there
Thank you!
I'm doing some of the things you mentioned- but I never thought of quiche! Appreciated!!
Roast beef on toasts with horseradish sauce on the side is filling and easy. People like wine with a hearty meat, too.
Chicken satay, sliders, mini crab or salmon cakes or just a sliced ham with rolls would do the same thing but wouldn't be as wine friendly.
Our Share of the Harvest:How a couple cooks from a CSA share. Pick Up Day Week 15
I went to a wine & cheese party a couple weeks ago, they had:
wild mushroom turnovers
bacon and ranch wraps
olives
fruits (fresh and dried)
jams
wontons
veggie tray
brownie-stuffed chocolate chip cookies
chocolate covered pomegranate seeds
umm...I think there was more, but that's all I can remember. There was a lot of food - haha
Tea Time for Lulu
*what I was TRYING to say...*
To play on this idea (which is great!), and make it more finger-foody, I would do something like:
Steak, make a herb-crusted steak, cut into very thin slices and put on a cracker, top with a dijon, or horse-raddish sauce, or even sauteed mushrooms and onions (as suggested above) - just make sure not to put too much on there
Fish, take crackers, put a slice of cucumber, a little smear of cream cheese, some smoked salmon, and a few chives on top. Super cute, easy to eat, and delicious. HOWEVER - I made these for a NYE party and learned an important lesson: assemble right before the party - if you do it too early, the juice from the cucumber will soak into the crackers and make them all soggy
sorry for the double post, I hit "enter" twice to make a new line, and it did "enter" twice to submit...
