Rose bushes

Hi, DH and I recnetlyd moved into our home and are now focusing on the front yard. We had beautiful rosebushes and now realized that they are covered in with black spots. I've read online that you can prune that but mine are completely covered. Does this mean they won't make it? :(

Also, any specific tips you recommend to try to bring them back to life?

TIA

Re: Rose bushes

  • They're not dead, they will "make it"; they are just typical fungus-covered, disease fraught roses. Get used to spraying them with an endless cycle of treatments to keep the molds, insects, and all assorted maladies at bay. Or you could do nothing, and they'll still keep right on blooming in spite of all that, but they won't be very healthy and the foliage will look like crap, and they'll probably have bugs all over them... but they'll still make lots of flowers.

  • Thanks for the tip! Good to know we haven't killed our roses!
