are these bulbs still good? Am I too late?

Hello ladies,

I was digging through a closet this morning and I found a ziploc bag of daffodil bulbs that I had received last fall. Moisture has definitey gotten into the bag although the bulbs are a little damp. They also have a slight odor. Are they still worth planting? If I planted them now (assuming I can shovel the snow off my garden), would they come up in time for spring? It was such a great gift-- I'm so mad I forgot! TIA!

Re: are these bulbs still good? Am I too late?

  • I wouldn't plant them now if you have to shovel snow off the ground. I'd try in the spring. At this point what do you have to lose?

  • Do you have an empty pot? You can stick them in dirt so the moisture won't be such a problem. Don't oversaturate the soil though. Replant them once the snow melts.

If they're squishy they're usually gone.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
