We moved to the la area 2 year ago from NYC and we've been living in Glendale but while we've developed a lot of friendships we're not in love with Glendale itself. We've spent the last month looking at places to move and after a near-miss in La Crescenta we've found a beautiful townhouse in Sherman Oaks south of Ventura. My question is what, if any, are the differences between the 2 areas in terms of lifestyle and opportunities for our 3 yr old. also, would you say one area is "better" than the other? Thank you for your answers
Re: Glendale v Sherman Oaks
I would have to say (and I'm new to LA myself), that Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd is bustling with shops, restaurants, comedy clubs, yoga studios, and easy access to all of LA. Glendale is harder to get in and out of from my experience. And really the best thing to do there is the Americana mall.
But if you're looking for quiet, Glendale is the answer. However, I think that Sherman Oaks has more to offer.
Hope this helps!
If I was coming from NYC I'd move to Santa Monica, downtown LA, Silverlake, or West Hollywood. Or anywhere on the Westside.
Oh wait - you have a kid. I guess Sherman Oaks is fine. lol
