mah- Cat

Woot Woot! Cat posing '10 profits! Things are looking up again.

Now if only the UAW and Cat can agree on a contact so no one strikes March 1.

Re: mah- Cat

  • No kidding about the union contacts! DH has warned me that it's possible he may be working -- A LOT -- if they go on strike.

  • DH didn't get an contingency job. :( Will be working the same amount of time. Boss thinks he's "too important" or something like that. Kinda wished he did get a contingency job so we can tackle finishing the basement or something crazy. ALthough I will not be seeing a bunch of friends if the strike happens. :(
  • I hope they don't strike. That'd be a PITA to deal with. At DH's company, the management suspected a strike to happen so they locked out the union before it could happen. They've now been locked out for over 2 years. For awhile they had all the scientists and engineers working 12 hour shifts in the plant. Ugh. At least now they've been replaced with temps but it's still a mess.

  • I'm kinda hoping they don't strike either... but they have a month left. They last had a strike in the 90's, so we'll see.

I'm not a very pro-union person. I think they had their time and place, but aren't as needed in the 21st century.

  • DH said the union voted yesterday for the right to vote to strike. Does that make sense? They voted that they can vote to strike later.

  • Yeah I read about that in the Peoria paper. But saying that their could be a vote to strike doesn't sound great.

I would like to tell the union that the last 2-3 years shouldn't all be blamed on Cat... the world had economic problems... I don't want that to factor into all their decisions.

  • A strike would be terrible.  On a + note (if there can be one), it would mean paid OT for the hubster, which we could really use considering we're having a child this fall.
