My poor sister :-( kinda long
Backstory: My sister was engaged about 4 years ago to a guy that she was with for 8 years. Five months before the wedding, he decided that he really didn't want to get married. They broke up and she was devastated. Not 3 months after they broke up, he got another girl pregnant and they got married. Come to find out, it was a mutual friend of my sister and his. It took her a a few years to even start dating and when she did, she found losers.
Fast forward: She is now engaged to an incredible guy that treats her so well. They have been together for about a 1 1/2 yr and they decided to get married next March (2012). I went with her to look at a few places. She found one right near where I live....a Radisson Hotel that is modeled after the same castle in Germany that she and I visited and that the Disneyland castle is modeled after. She is big into castles. She put a hold on it for 2 weeks while the money cleared in her account. They had the date of St. Patricks Day 2012. This weekend they were going to put the deposit down. So I was just on the NH board and come to find out the hotel locked their doors without notice today and all of the brides are S.O.L . She is devasted because she fell in love with the place. Her first wedding was going to be at the same place I got married but she refuses to get married there even if it was her dream site. I can understand that. She is convinced she is jinxed and is not meant to be married. I worry about her because she is a severe diabetic and major stress usually ends with a hospital visit. I just got off the phone with her and told her that I will do some research and come up with a huge list of possibilities and if we have to go to every place in NH and MA, we will find the place she is meant to get married in. So looks like I am back to wedding planning.

First of all I'm so sorry for your sister and what she's been through...I'm glad she's finally met a wonderful man.
That being said....let me know where she's thinking of looking....I've been to SO many weddings in SO many different parts of MA, that I SHOULD be able to help

I'm so sorry that she has been through so much. That being said, she was incredibly lucky she hadn't put the deposit down yet and isn't out that money. That pretty much tells me she isn't jinxed
Well, at least you get to do more wedding planning...no more missing it.
She will have a great wedding and is marrying a great man. Truthfully, she sounds like she is incredibly lucky. She avoided marrying a creep and didn't lose her money in the hotel/castle.

There are to very good silver linings here, which is 1) she didn't put in her deposit yet, and 2) it wasn't like the week before she was supposed to get married. I'm sure it's hard to see at this time, but she'll get there. I wish I could help look for places, but I don't know where to begin here in California.
Keep us updated, I hope she finds a place that makes her happy!
Oh, your poor sister! That's rough. It's possible (likely, even) that another chain will pick up the hotel and she'll still be able to have it there.
Is she looking for NH or MA? There's always Searles Castle in Windham - I have no idea how expensive it is, or what her budget is, but it's a thought. The Sheraton in Framingham is castle-like as well, but that may be too far south for her, depending on where she's located.
