Snow Day!!!

Actually, Ice Day!!! is more accurate.  We had a pretty decent rain storm last night that turned into a freezing rain/sleet storm when the temperatures dropped.  Everything is now covered in a sheet of ice which means North Texas is virtually shut down.  I usually laugh at how Texans react to a little snow, but it's not overreacting today.  I'd much rather deal with 2 feet of snow then the less then an inch of ice we now have.  The upside for being iced-in...I get to spend a whole extra day with the munchkin!

Re: Snow Day!!!

  • During last year's (first) Nor'Easter in B-more, DH and I were totally pissed that they canceled the symphony that night because we had tickets and we just figured they were overreacting...four hours later we were like yeah, okay, two feet of snow, they're not being wusses.

Yay for time with the munchkin! I had a day off yesterday because of the stomach flu (yuck) and got to play with the little one all day, so much fun!

  • Nice! It's not quite as bad down here. Very little ice so far - but supposed to be more tonight. It was fun watching my neighbor try to open his car door which was frozen shut. hehe.

  • Have fun with Amelia! I'm enjoying the day off from work (and rowdy pre-teens too). Do you think we'll go back tomorrow?

  • Ash - I hope we don't go back tomorrow.

I got up at 4:15 (DH gets ups then anyway) to watch the news.  I saw DISD was closed and started stalking my work email because when they close....EVERYONE closes!  I got the good news at 5:30 and promptly texted my phone tree person and went back to bed.  I got up at 10 :)

    Beta's 11, 14, 57, 637, 2800
Sono showed no baby and teeny tiny sac. Waiting to M/C naturally.

  • I'm out, too. A snow day was declared at lunch yesterday. Good thing - we really did get a blizzard. It's hard to tell just how much snow we got because the snow's been blowing around. My car's currently behind a snow drift - I hope we're out tomorrow, too. It'll take me forever to get out if we're not.

  • I have a feeling things will be back to normal tomorrow, or close to it.  I have to go into work close to my normal time no matter what it's like tomorrow.

  • I know the temp's aren't going to get better but I still have a feeling I'll be at work tomorrow too.  I would be SHOCKED if we didn't have school.  Actually, I was still shocked about today.  I think the Super Bowl being here helped (conspiracy theory, lol)  I joke!

  • I wish we got snow days. Unfortunately people up here are too rugged, and we're forced to suck it up and deal.It would have to be the next apocalypse of snow to close stuff down.
  • Dallas ISD closed for tomorrow.  Usually my district does what they do.  I'm holding out hope for another day to sleep in.

Funny thing is, Friday is a staff development day which means no school for the students in our district.  If we get tomorrow off, they'll only have a 2 day week.  Lucky duck's.

However, this is not helping me teach Least common multiple's to my new student.  He's so behind, it makes me sad.  If he's behind in my class, you know he's really behind.

  • I was just about to let you know that my mom's school district has already decided to close tomorrow.  My sister lives in Keller and her school district is closed as well.  I'll probably fight my way in early, get done what I need to get done (maybe an hour's worth of work) and head home.
