How much to tip for furniture delivery?
It's 1 upholstered chair that has to go on the 2nd floor.

If it is for your JCP chair, then hell no. They totally rip off for shipping. Now, if it was Overstock.com delivery and I paid $3 for shipping, I would maybe consider it if they took it up flights of stairs (which they don't).
We had a mattress delivered 2 weeks ago. It was $70-80 for delivery. Sorry, but I'm not tipping.

Yep, that's the one. I am a little worried that they'll cancel due to the storm, although it seems fine here now. It was supposed to get delivered last Thursday but they canceled due to last week's storm.
I guess I feel a little bad b/c you know the delivery guys aren't making much money (and they do all the work).
I agree most of our furniture is delivered by NFM and we pay about 50 for delivery.
My brother was a mover for awhile. He made good money. His hourly wage was in the $15 range and that was years ago. So, I guess I don't worry about it too much. The delivery takes 5 mins. I don't think it really warrants extra tips. Plus, like the pp said, lots of companies don't allow it.
The only reason we tipped our movers is because it obviously takes hours. We didn't tip our roofers either. But, we provided them ice and cold beverages (we did this for our movers too).

Wow - this thread surprises me. I don't see how the cost of delivery affects how much you tip...the guys are basically making the same amount whether they are coming from Ethan Allen or Joe Shmo Movers. I've never come across a company that doesn't allow delivery tipping - but you can tell yourself that to make you feel better if you want, haha!
AT least give em $5 or something. If it's a little chair - and two guys...I'd give them 2 $5 bills.
I wouldn't tip either. Furniture delivery is their job. The only time I tip is if they go super above and beyond what they're supposed to.
Also, the furniture delivery people in my area make pretty good money, so I don't feel too bad.
That was snarky and unnecessary. FYI, Mattress Firm has a policy that is written (at least in my state) that says no tipping. They call it their "red carpet delivery promise" or something like that. They use a red carpet.
You are welcome to tip if you want to, but don't try to make others feel like crap because they don't....

I second this as well. You can do what you want but don't make someone else feel bad for doing something that is also acceptable. Tips are a nice gesture not a requirement. I don't think that everyone needs a tip for doing their job. Also here, our furniture guys are paid very well, and aren't allowed to accept tips as a job.
I would tip if they take it up to the second floor for you. If they just bring it in, no tip. If they say no thanks, there you go. I always tip if I am not sure if I should unless I am in another country.
This!
I don't tip every Tom, *** and Harry I interact with on a daily basis who purports to offer me a service. Tips are for superior service, the.end.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
It was a joke, ladies. Just a joke.
And I totally agree. Tips are a great gesture and obviously not a requirement. If the guys aren't allowed...then they will say thanks, but we are not allowed. No harm done!
LOL! The short form of Richard offends the nest...didn't even think about it.

Hey I am also with all of you.
I never tipped.
