What would you change?

Are you in the middle of any projects inside or outside the house?

If you could build again, would you? Absolutely.  I love our house and I love that it feels more ours because we picked everything out.  We learned so much doing it the first time that I think we would be even better off and know where to speak up more and what we can let slide or do ourselves the next time around.  We built our forever home, so hopefully that won't be in the cards for a long, long time unless we win the lotto and we can build a family beach house. :)

What would you change?  We would've asked for a ceiling light fixture to be installed in our formal living room (running the wires now would be very tricky as a DIY), thought out the placement of the outlets/cable boxes more (an above FP cable outlet is a great idea in theory, but not necessary as the cable boxes aren't behind the TV- they are on the side), there's also a few little things we would've pushed for our builder to do (that most builders here already do) such as follow-up with more seeding and initial lawn care in the Spring since we closed in Nov (they hydroseeded in late Oct and they spot seeded in the Spring, but it was nowhere near enough to start a lawn), drainage in our front yard was an issue the first year due to the grading of the land, so we would've fought that more instead of doing the work ourselves and a few other little things.

Are you in the middle of any projects inside or outside the house? We are starting to paint and have picked out colors for most of the downstairs.  We hope to have the kitchen and solarium (pale yellow) painted by Mariela's birthday party.  We'll probably do the formal DR next (a deep red), and then go from there as all the other rooms we want to add our own touches like chair molding and crown molding and a new light fixture in the DR, a mantle for the FP in the FR, and new bathroom fixtures/mirror/and maybe a sink in the 1/2 bath.  We were going to finally build our deck this year, but I think that will be on hold.  We'll most likely pay down debt and build our e-fund this year and try for the deck again next year.  We know what we want and the labor will cost us the most.  Alexi doesn't want his brothers to do it, he wants to hire it out.
