CSA Pricing

I was just wondering what is a realistic price for a weekly CSA box of veggies and fruit? I have only one in the area that is veggies/fruit only, the other local farms are meat and/or stands or eggs only.  The one that i found has reasonble hours and offers 1/4, 1/2 and full shares. The trial share for each one is for one month, the others are for 3 months.  We were looking into the 1/2 share which fee's 3-4 each week and it is $68 for a month or $200 for 12 weeks.  Is this a good price? I am planting my own tomatoes, peppers, cuc's and zucchini again this year, but other veggies don't grow well in my garden and/or get eaten by varmits.

TIA

Re: CSA Pricing

  • Sounds like a good price.  Around here it's $500-$550 for a 20 wk full share which is suppose to feed 3-4 ppl.

  • We pay $21.50/week.  It's supposed to feed 1-2 people, but I'd say it's more like 3-4.  Our weekly box weighs around 15lbs.

We're in Southern California, so we get produce year round.

    Twin boys due 7/25/12
