Such a tease...

When I woke up my work was closed because the power was out there.  I ran into the bedroom and did the happy dance (H did it to me yesterday when he had a snowday), by the time I got back to my living room they had restored power.  Booo.

Anyone else dealing with this nasty ice storm?

Re: Such a tease...

  • Im in Chicago, so we're getting slammed w the blizzard.  I was supposed to work 7p-7a last night & got about halfway there before I got stuck & my car broke down.  I had to call in & wait for H to come rescue me :(

  • We just got rain. But I sure have been worried about my family back home. My Dad texted me this morning and said the roads suck bigtime. And when I was talking to MIL last night the power went out and then came back on.

  • Don't worry, Britt- I'll sit at home for you today ;)

We're on day 2 of no school.  Roads are horrific.  Rolling blackouts to conserve power (we haven't been hit yet, but it seems we're the only ones).  Not expecting anything to melt until Friday evening.  But the snow I've seen from friends and family up north is crazy!

I guess they can cancel as many days as they want... my time off this summer will start regardless:)

  • we were supposed to get slammed here. we got MAYBE 5-6 inches (the norm) and a nice coating of sleet/ice and now we're just getting probably an inch or two through the day on top of it. everything was called off except the University where i work. they NEVER call off.

the roads are hell because they're always hell (aka they're doing nothing about them) , but nothing i couldn't handle in a honda civic.

  • we're up to about 14" from the past 2 days and now its freezing rain-ing. the roads have been awful both days. my company didn't close yesterday or today.

and to top it off, we're just about out of oil and the oil truck hasn't been able to make it up our hill yesterday or today... sooo we have to wait until tomorrow. awesome.

  • I'm on day 2 of a "cold" day...not a snow day, because there's maybe three inches.  Not an "ice" day because if that was the case then we shouldn't have gone on Monday.  A "cold" day.  It's currently -9 degrees.  Don't get me wrong, I get that it's cold...but really?  Maybe it's just b/c I'm from WI and cold is normal.  Oh well, day 2 of an unexpected baking and reading holiday!  Big Smile

  • It was 15* when I left my house this morning.  Not a big deal for most of you who seem to be living up north and get this type of weather in winter, but for a south Texan, it's a big deal!  Plus, we have the rolling blackouts since Texas apparently doesn't plan well, so halfway through straightening my hair for work, power goes out.  Woohoo, looking good at school today.  Luckily our admins are cool enough to let us get by grubby today jeans and all!  If it's going to be this cold here, it should just snow.  Then students and teachers would be happily at home Stick out tongue
  • We cant catch a break in NY - 50+ inches in a month

It has been snowing/ hailing / sleeting since yesterday morning!!!!

We had a little break and then was bad overnight.

Huge sheets of ice this morning, horrible drive to work!

  • We haven't really gotten any rain or snow lately. I'm used to snowy winters, but this one has been pretty light. It is cold though! The sun is shining, but I don't want to go out and enjoy it because the air is so cold!
  • I feel for those having to deal with the winter storm. Luckily, the only thing we've had was some rain yesterday.

  • 57.7 inches and another storm coming in on Sat

    <sigh>

  • We were supposed to get hit with the big snow but somehow it JUST missed us.  I was so thankful because MH is in Houston for the week and I didn't feel like shoveling 20 inches of snow by myself.  We still did get lots of sleet and ice and about 6 inches of snow, but nothing huge like the rest of MO!  <phew!>

  • I wish we would get SOMETHING.  We haven't had any new snow since December.  The mountains are seriously hurting. We were supposed to have an awesome winter.
