It must be bad since it's the first time in over 30 years that there is no newspaper delivery (yay snow day) Our town is under a civil danger warning, meaning no emergency vehicles can get to people! So scary. Hope everyone is safe.
PIP what you woke up to!

There was a road at one time!

This is right when I woke up. Pretty quiet and with a huge drift hanging off of the roof:

Another one on the other side of the house. Another big drift.

Here is the front of the house. I cleared off the driveway, but couldn't get to the sidewalk because the drift in front of the house is about a foot taller than my snowblower.

Still no sign of a plow...
Things are worse to the south though- this one is from my uncle in the north Chicago 'burbs. He had to push his front door open.

It wasn't as scary as I thought when I woke up! I think we got 10 inches since I got up yesterday morning.
Wait, that still sounds like a lot... we were expecting more, though. Our cars are covered, but still visible. It's not snowing anymore, it's little ice pellets. I think my entire city has shut down, I haven't seen a single car go by in 2 hours.

I had the icepocalypse and treebranchmaggeddon. 1/2 inch of ice on my car yesterday that I removed, and another 1/2 inch of ice on my car today. Last night the tree branches started falling, and since we have a huge maple tree in our front yard and in our back yard, it was really scary. One branch landed on my neighbor's garage and was so loud the whole street came out of their houses to see what the noise was.
I ended up sleeping on the couch with the dogs since the trees are both on the same side of the house as my bedroom and I didn't want to get squished. And then around 2:30am the wind picked up. We have a wind advisory until 7pm tonight, so even more tree branches will probably fall down.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
I have no pictures. We were supposed to be in the middle of the ice (like stees), but it missed us. We woke up today to 55 degree weather and sun!!!
The wind picked up around 10am and then the temps dropped back down below freezing by 3pm. We're all just counting our blessings that the ice/snowpocalypse missed us altogether.
