favourite registry item? PIP

I remember we did this when we first created our registries and asked everyone what they were most excited about getting.

Now that you have received many (or all?) gifts, which gift ended up being your actual favourite? did it change or was it the same?  PIP please. :)

Re: favourite registry item? PIP

  • Oh, also, was there anything on there that never got purchased that you REALLY wanted?

  • I thought my favorite would be my mixer but I haven't used it yet.  DH has used it but I find it complicated and if I need a quick mix, I do it by hand....less clean up.  My favorite and the one i get the most use out of is my crockpot.  I love love love it.

We got almost everything that we really wanted.  I do wish I got some better flatware.

  • I am too lazy to search for a picture, but my favorite (at least as far as usage) is probably my waffle iron or my griddle.  I didn't get my mixer but DH and I used the 10% discount Target gives to finish your registry plus a coupon for it, and I LOVE it...Kitchenaid Classic, we've started making our own rolls and bread with it...

  • My favorite registry item is probably everybody's favorite: My Kitchenaid mixer (which we didn't actually get off the registry, but bought for ourselves later)image

We have either bought or recieved everything we really really wanted and its only the tiny utensil stuff (that we just have never gotten around to getting and probably won't until we are making something and remember that we need it) and the really big ticket item that we put on there that is so low on our household priority list we probably will never get it (it comes after tiling the kitchen and dining room, new carpet for the house, remodeling the master bathroom, installing a back porch, etc) which is a movable kitchen island. I would love to have it, but we don't really want to allocate the $200 for it when we have so many other projects. But it's pretty:

  • Of the gifts actually bought for us, I would say our Kitchenaid Mixer.  We were given a lot of money instead of wrapped gifts, though, so probably the fave "gift" we bought ourselves with gifted money would actually be a tie between a set of really nice knives and our crockpot.
    "You're the L and the V, I'm the O and the E...Am I speaking clearly?"
  • I might also consider another gift.  Someone gave us $600 before the wedding to use on our honeymoon.  That person knew we were interested in going to a certain football game that was taking place near where we honeymooned, so they thought we might use most of the money towards that.  But they said we could just use it however we wanted, and we ended up using a good portion of it to do a private helicopter tour of the area where we honeymooned.  The only time I had ever been on a helicopter before that was whan I was medi-flighted to a hospital after a serious car accident, so it's nice to have a better helicopter memory now.  And the views we got on our tour were beautiful!

  • If I had my old laptop, I'd have pictures. Instead, you get links. I LOVE our Calphalon pots and pans: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/regProduct.asp?WRN=-1086049542&sku=17467808&

What we didn't get, that I really wish we had, was our wine glass set: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/regProduct.asp?WRN=-1086049542&sku=12266880&

I'm really hoping to get the wine glasses before our registry closes in October. We'd have a full set of the ones we have now if it weren't for a friend of Zach's - got drunk a few New Year's ago, and dropped one, smashing it, then went to get a "new glass" and managed to smash that one as soon as it was out of the cupboard. She's not allowed over when drinking goes on anymore.

  • (sorry, the nest won't let me insert links anymore or PIP easily.  Anyone else have this problem?)

We originally thought our favourite registry item would be our china.  (Suomi celebration from rosenthal), but since we hardly got any of it we're not really enjoying it.  I know we will one day, though, when we actually have a house and a dining room table (or any table for that matter), and a full set of these.

Probably hubby's favourite registry item is the roomba.  Though, I think he's completely missing the point of the thing when he insists on cleaning it out after each use.  He spends on average 15 minutes cleaning it out ... when he couldn't have taken that same amount of time and vacuumed himself with our cheap vacuum.  Well whatever.  He loves it, so I'm happy.

My favourite registry item is probably mandala dwell studio coverlet and sham set from target.  Now that it's the dead of winter, and I'm craving bright and sunshiny things.   I think the pattern is very retro/folksy/scandic.  I love snuggling on the couch with the coverlet, but it will go on the bed in the spring and summer (when the duvet comes off) :)

something we didn't get that I was really hoping for was our flatware.  We have some ghetto flatware that Matt's g'ma found in her attic from the 1970s and we only have 4 big spoons and about 1000 tea spoons.  and the pattern is fug.  we wanted these (iitala Mango):
