Entertaining when you have kids
My hubby and I have been married for 2 years, and we have a wonderful almost 2 year old. Most of our friends have kids, and we want to know of any entertaining ideas for parents. Where the kids can do their own thing while the grown ups do as well.....
Re: Entertaining when you have kids
As the mother of a 2 yo, I wouldn't feel comfortable letting my kid "do their own thing" while I did mine. At this age I think you're probably either going to need to do an all inclusive party, or an adult's only party.
We also have young kids ( 3 year old twins) and it's hard to leave them to 'do their own thing' - you never know what they will get into. After many times of trying to get together with my adult friend (and their children) we found it IMPOSSIBLE to have a conversation or even finish a thought without being distracted by the children. My solution was to hire a sitter (neighborhood teen or 2) to come over for a few hours and do a craft or play a game with the children. I must say that it went over very well....they kiddies may come to 'check' on their parents, but once they know mommy and daddy are nearby, they go back and join the other children. I must say it was a nice time being able to relax a bit with adult company and not have to worry about the kids as much.

That's brilliant...
Re: OP - Hi! I have a 2 and a 3 yr. old... during daylight hours - it helps to entertain them if there are "new" toys. esp. things they haven't seen before. We also like to have people over later - right after they've had their baths and will fall asleep. The day of a get-together I will take them somewhere like the mall and make sure they are really tired.
Great idea!!
