I am throwing a baby shower in 2 weeks and I'm starting to freak a bit. First of all, we are using real dinning wear. No crappy paper plates and decor. I need ideas on a theme she is having a girl, so pink and chocolate colors are as close to a theme that I have. Also a favor that won't just be tossed after. I was thinking something homemade like a lip scrub. Decor ideas that aren't lame. I want it to be a grown up party.

Re: Green baby shower help!
Yay, another PA girl on here!
I would personally love homemade lip scrub as a favor. Or you could always do an edible to avoid the tossing issue (although still consider the packaging).
Most baby showers I've attended have based their themes off whatever the parents are doing for the nursery. This may not fit your "adult" standards, but one of the cooler ideas I've seen was the tables that were each decorated with a stuffed toy for the future child. I even heard the planners didn't buy all the toys specifically for that purpose, but included used toys and a few that the new parents had already bought/ received, and some were simply lent. Also, if you know someone is going to bring in a hand-made item like a quilt or blanket, you could put it on display.
My mom is throwing me a shower with a tea party theme. She got tea pots from Goodwill to put flowers in for her centerpieces. Favors are tea cups(also from good will) filled with cookies. So the green element here would be that she is reusing instead of buying new.
Honestly, most favours are just trashed upon getting them home. Most decor is kind of a waste of effort. I would focus on having really nice food and drink, as that's the part I actually appreciate. If you must do favours, I really do prefer edible. Homemade fudge or toffees, a couple high-end chocolates, a small packet of fair-trade coffee or tea - something like that.
Just say no to paper streamers, cheesey plastic crap, and all that stuff you can buy at a party store. No one will miss it.
Great Ideas! Thank you guys!
For favors, you could have little plants that double as table decorations.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Not sure if this is "green", but what if for centerpieces you took dead branches, painted them pink, even threw a little glitter on, and put them in a vase? I read that idea somewhere, although to warn you, I think a lot of people didn't like it because it was 'dead'. For my friend's wedding she did large vases with purple plums in them.. maybe you could do something with fruit (that people would take afterwards). All of the vases were ones that people had donated (since most people keep vases from when they get flowers. Or perhaps do something else with vases... maybe float something in them or fill them with something else. Bamboo might be an idea too.
Favors.. what about a food? Maybe something dipped in chocolate - marshmallows, oreos, or pretzel sticks dipped in choc and with sprinkles or whatnot. Or some eco-friendly soap, etc. How about something in a Ball jar, like cookie mix or hot cocoa? I think for mine we did "sugar and spice" and so we did a variety of tea, hot cocoa, and a sugar dipping stick. Or seed packets with garden gloves in a little terracotta pot.
