Officially House Hunting!
DH and I decided we think it's the right time to be buying a house! It's a little nerve-racking but exciting. We're going to be here for at least 4 more years so it's looking like we should at least break even. I just really don't want to spend the next 4 years in an apartment!

I'd also check into condos. Could be a good deal in a college area, and not as run over with partying students as some apartment complexes.
Then you also don't have to deal with yard work
One of the biggest pains of being a homeowner. Having a yard ain't cheap or easy!!!
Totally congrats though... let us know what you find or pass over. I like hearing about the "OH HELL NO's!" from friends
THIS!!! Our first purchase after buying a house was buying a lawnmower. They mowed like two weeks before we closed (it was a jungle), but it was spring, so it already needed mowed.
We actually ended up putting in an offer on this one last week

We got outbid though. Someone bid over asking price. I guess it's a good sign for the Iowa City market. We just have to keep looking.
We thought about a condo but with our dog, we really want a yard, even if it is more work. It's such a pain having to walk her outside every time she needs to go out. We're hoping for just a small yard so it's not too much work. Luckily DH's dad just bought a riding lawnmower so he's going us his old one.
We're going out again tomorrow to look so hopefully we'll find another one we like!
