Decor help: Would this be dumb?
I currently have this dresser in Macy's bedroom and I am working on re-doing our guest room. I have looked and looked all over for furniture (at a reasonable price) and I keep coming back to this dresser. I LOVE it! It's cheap, it's cute and it's sturdy. It would be perfect for the guest room, but my only hold up is it's in another bedroom. I am thinking of maybe painting it black, but I am not 100% sure. I might keep it white.
So my question is, do you think it's silly to have two of the same dressers in two different bedrooms? The style of the bedrooms would be completely different but I am just unsure if this would look dumb. If I do buy it do you def think I should paint it black so it's not totally the same? Or would it be ok to keep white?
Thanks for any input!

Re: Decor help: Would this be dumb?
I think it's a cute, versatile piece that could be used in more than one room. Why not? No one is going to say OMG that dresser is in Macy's room too!! LOL
Only if you want to should you paint it black.
I think it's fine. I have matching bedside tables, and I'm thinking of putting each one in a different room (I've been seeing a lot of rooms with mismatched bedside tables and I like the look). I think it would be fine keeping it the same, but painting it would give it a different look, as would switching out the knobs. Another look I've seen, which might work well here because of the "rope" detail is using a product called Rub n' Buff on it. Here's an example of it used on a chair, but this blog has used it on a number of different furniture pieces. Good Luck!

Thanks for the input! I think I am going to spring for that dresser! It's only $255 with free shipping at Target, can't beat that price!
I am so undecided as what I am going to do in that room! Ugh. I can't make up my mind. Currently.....for today at least......I think I am going to paint the top half of the walls a dark gray, and the lower have of the walls white (with some trim work) and keep the rest of the decor yellow, black and white. I am having trouble finding yellow and white bedding I like (I want to keep it a bit modern, but not too much) so my inspiration may change.
But thanks for the link! I may have to use that idea on another piece of furniture, possibly in our kitchen. I think bar stools would look great.......just need to find some that don't cost an arm and a leg!

Yeah, if you love the piece, why not? I highly doubt anyone would notice.
$255?! Holy macaroni. We have the same dresser and the nightstand in that same set in DD's room. We paid $30 for the dresser and $15 for the nightstand. On sale, at Target. This was a while back, but check a Target (or three) before you buy online.
Also, I do not think it's stupid to have the same dresser in 2 different rooms. You could always change the knobs for DD's room. They make all kinds - from simple and decorative, alphabet letters, princess accessories, shapes, etc. I don't remember what her room decor is, but there are tons of options.

What about a cheaper Ikea dresser?

And then you could dress it up with knobs and accents...This is from a blog CPH sent me

Just a thought...
Whoa, $30??! OMG, what a great price that is! I was at Target today and they didn't have any instock. And that is the ONLY Target closest to us within 100 miles. The next closest Target is in San Antonio
Well, we ended up having to buy the baby a new car seat today, which we were trying to put off for a little while. So I think I am going to have to put my dresser purchase off for a few weeks.
