Hello everyone :-)
I've reached a point in my life where I want to take my "green" self to the next level. I try to buy organic foods where I can afford it, avoid processed foods (except occasionally with my husband), love cooking from scratch (homemade breads, pasta, sauces, hummus, pickles, mmm), have begun my transition to "earth friendly" cleaners/cloths.
I know the world is full of resources for me, but theres SOO many I just don't know where to start. It would be amazing if you could recommend your favorite book/blog on any of the following themes:
-healthy family/slow food movement/organic/clean food&cooking
-being an "earth friendly" housewife: cleaning products, tips, etc
-organic/earth friendly new moms-to-be (thinking of having kids in two years, want the habits to be STUCK by then!)
There's a lot out there, but if you could recommend your favorites it would be madly appreciated! I've skimmed I don't know how many blogs in the last year...and I cant remember the good (thorough, updated) ones from the others!
Im just trying to go from taking personal-green steps, to creating a green/natural/organic family! <one step at a time>
Re: Green-Guidance
A few things that we do that are really easy is we eliminated ALL paper towels and only use rags to clean. We also use apple cider vinegar and baking soda to clean. Occasionaly we use bleach in our bathtub because it gets gross, but we limit that to maybe once a month. We have a food waste bin under our sink. All food scraps go in there. Our city also picks up food and yard waste so it makes it easy. We also recycle almost anything and everything. We have the smallest garbage can available to us and really the only thing I think we are throwing away are plastics that can't be recycled. I'm sure we could do better but those seem to be the easiest for us to do and we don't even think about it anymore.
the reusit website has a clearance sale- some good kids/adult drink bottles, bags, etc. They make it easy to shop clearance so I went right on and searched their clearance section. Shopping bags at great prices and the small bags for veggies/fruit and snacks- totally worth stocking up!
One of the hardest green/EF things for me was switching off of petrolium based products- lotions, soaps, sunscreen, makeup- I love the green beauty guide and enjoy looking at www.gorgeouslygreen.com for recipes and suggestions.
Good luck, I am still making changes and "getting green' myself

Mommy is Green
EnviroMom

Green and Clean Mom
Life Love Green
Reduce Footprints
The Green Phone Booth
Natural Papa
Hope this was helpful!
Thanks! The problem with blogs (IMO) is that there are SOOOOOO many that come up with a search...sometimes its hard to find the really good ones that are useful and updated frequently
:-) Im browsing now!
Best way to build a good network of blogs to follow is find a few key one's you like and then see who they follow.
Pay no attention to them haters 'cause we whip 'em off
