And now I hate Monday even more...

So, on my drive to work, there was a wayward tire on the freeway. Thankfully, it was just the rubber part. Not thankfully, I didn't see it until the car in front of me hit it and sent it flying into my front bumper. It knocked some of the plastic grate pieces loose and cracked my driver's side hubcap.

I'm okay and my car, in general, is okay. I think my tire itself is fine, which was a big concern (I don't need a flat right now!).

So yeah. Mondays suck.

  • About 30 minutes later in my commute I heard a traffic report saying there was a crash right around where I hit the tire/the tire hit me. I'm wondering if that was the culprit Sad

The bumper was already messed up because I kinda hit a raccoon about four years ago (on the other side, though), so it may just be a sign it's time to get the darn thing replaced. The only reason I haven't yet it because it's going to cost me upwards of $600 and the insurance doesn't cover "road hazzards" like woodland creatures and random crap flying at me on the freeway. Grrrr!

If I can get the grate pieces back in, it might be okay. And I think I can just pull of the hubcap cover. But it was scary and I was shaken to say the least...

  • Glad you are ok and the damage wasnt worse.  I hit a piece of tire once on the interstate in college - we were on a road trip to Florida, unfortunately it hit my oil pan causing a major leak and my oil pressure dropped.  I had to have AAA tow us to the next town and spend about $350 to fix the car that day.  Luckily it was a weekday or I would have been so screwed.
