Saw your post over on H&F about the groupon thing.
Did you see today's Groupon?
$20 for $40 worth of shoes/apparel at Right Fit Running in Mounds View?
Bytheway...your new Asics are HOT and I'm jealous!

Re: Kiz
I saw that Groupon!
Confession: I have lived in the Twin Cities since I was 5 and I have no clue where Mounds View is.
Is it near Apple Valley?

I am in love with my shoes. It's amazing what a difference good shoes make!!! I had bought my old Nikes before I started running because they were "cute". They aren't bad shoes...they just aren't right for MY feet. I tested out the new shoes last night and flew around the track! My legs, knees, and toes felt great! It turns out I needed a size 11.5 in running shoes. My toes were too squished in before! I had no idea! I guess I'm just used to cramming my giant feet into shoes my whole life. :-)
Two thumbs up to the woman who helped me at Runner's Gate in Lakeville. She watched me walk around the store and then knew exactly what I needed!
With the Groupon my shoes ended up being $75. Not too shabby for good running shoes!! :-)
I know, right? Shoes make a world of difference. I was running in some crappy target shoes for a while this summer and had all sorts of knee issues. Then I got my New Balances and it's made a world of difference.
I'm going to be in the market for a new pair come the end of April/early May for my upcoming half, so today's groupon was PERFECT for me!
Mounds View is by Spring Lake Park/Blaine area. It's off of Hwy 10. Maybe that'd be a bit of a drive for you?
Lakeville was too far for me! So I didn't do that Groupon, but man was I tempted!
And $75 is definitely not too shabby for a good pair. I've heard wonderful things about Asics.

Hah. Wow. I'm not even close on where Mounds View is. :-) I live in St. Louis Park so Lakeville WAS a bit of a trek but I'm glad I went.
I've had 2 pair of New Balance in the past (not for running) and the fabric on the heels wore out REALLY fast. On both pairs! I made sure to untie them and slide them off gently and it didn't help. :-(
I got Nikes before because I had one of those Nike iPod chip things. I'm 99% sure I'm getting an iPhone tonight so I'll find a running app that does similar things and just use that since the battery died on my Nike chip.
I have to get used to how much support my new shoes have. Apparently I had NO support in my Nikes. The one thing I did notice in my Asics was my feet felt REALLY warm while running last night. My Nikes seem much more ventilated. It was kind of a weird sensation!
WEIRD! I'll have to keep an eye on my new balances. I've only used them for the past month, though. I need them to get me through till April or I'm gonna be in trouble!
Haven't ever run in Nikes, but have heard good things about them too. I have such a high arch that it's hard for me to find good shoes that work.
I know you've done your 5Ks in the past, are you doing any more this coming year?

If I'm free I'd love to do the 5k that I've done the last 2 years. It starts on Boom Island, goes along St. Anthony Main, over Stone Arch Bridge, and across Plymouth bridge back to Boom Island. It's a beautiful course!!
