IRS is super fast this season!

I filed our taxes last Thursday afternoon, and just checked the IRS's Where is my refund site and it says our refund will go into our account this Friday!  That is 8 days after I did our taxes!!!!!  I am so excited!  This means we will have our refund in time for our vacation. WOOOHOOOO  we can now splurge a little!

Anyone else filed yet?

  • We already filled, it did seem to come back to us really quilkly. We're not doing anything too exciting with the extra $$$. DH paid off one of his student loans, whice is huge! It will save us 3500 over the life of the loan Surprise

That is huge!  I was looking forward to putting a big dent in my loans this year since I paid off my credit cards before saving for the wedding, then I lost my job.  Something to look forward to!

I usually get my taxes done the first week of February.  DH and I make a day of it, because we drive to the city and always go to the same restaurant afterward. We are still waiting for one piece of info. Hopefully, we can still go this weekend, and it usually goes through electronically pretty quick.

  • My FIL has started ours, as he's always done DH's taxes so rather than paying somebody to do ours as I have in the past, he's doing them.  I'm not sure how I feel about that since I've always paid somebody, but so far he's never done them wrong in the past.  He's hoping to have them done by Friday, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we'll get back.  I really don't understand what all goes in to finding your maximum refund, but with the money we hope to get back, we plan on paying off our furniture.  Nothing too exciting, I guess, but not having a furniture payment to make every month would be so nice!
  • I filed ours on Saturday. Unfortunately, DH was on unemployment for part of the year so our refund is going to be pretty small. It'll be enough to pay off one of the credit cards though, so that's nice.
  • We filed ours last night and I got am email this morning that they were accepted by the state and the fed. Our return is much larger this year than last year, but I am still a student so I haven't been working much and have pretty massive tuition payments to deduct. This is the last year for that haha

I think we are going to pay off some of our CC debt, put a big chunk in savings and then use some to have a little fun/purchase/update things we can't regularly afford throughout the year.

  • We haven't filed yet.  I am excited to see what we will get back as a Married couple.  Our refunds always go into savings as our "emergency fund" which if we haven't spent by August, we use to plan a vacation!
