? about re-usable produce bags
So I've ordered some reusable produce bags from a girl on etsy, and I'm super excited about them.
Today a thought occurred to me though -- how do you store the produce in the fridge? Usually I just stick everything in the fruit/veggie drawers, still in the produce bags. What happens if all my re-usable bags are in the fridge with stored food, and I need to go to the store and buy something else? Or is there another way I should be using to store produce?

Re: ? about re-usable produce bags
I never use produce bags...on occasion I have typically just if I buy loose beets and I fear the bright red beet juice will leak into and out of my canvas bags Ill grab one, or maybe for bulk-bin items.
Is it better to? A lot of people use them for everything (I work at a grocery store and see poeple with one apple in a bag, a bag of grapes in a bag, bananas in a bag, etc) and I never understood it. With the excpetion of "containing" in a space, is there a benefit? (shelf life, whatever?) Or is it personal preference?
We eat our produce fairly fast, but if I do hold something in the fridge for over a week, I notice it spoils faster if it is in a plastic bag versus being not wrapped in anything.

I usually take the veggies/fruits out of the reusable bag and put them on the counter / fruit basket / fridge. The reusable bags are great because they allow the fruits or veggies to breathe, which I think is the key to them not going bad so fast.
I'm not sure the previous posters read the part about reusable produce bags in your post. We get bags of apples and grapefruits etc all the time and so I use the bags frequently. Even potatoes and onions. I would never put 1-2 items in the bag.. we eat so many veggies I use the bags frequently.
And something like green beans, we usually eat right away, so it frees up the bags. Like they go right in the colander to be washed/cut up.

Same here. I just put my items directly where ever I want to store them. Most things I don't need a container for. If I do need a container, I'll just take the item(s) out of the bag and put into another bowl or whatever at home.
We usually keep some stuff still in the bags and empty others. For example, the pears get put in the fruit basket on the counter while the lettuce stays in the bag in the produce drawer.
I would think if you need to make a grocery run and the bags are in use. You could empty a couple out quick into your produce drawer, etc.
