Gilbert/Mesa/Chandler Pediatrician Rec.

Hey ladies,

I guess we should start looking for a Pediatrician. Everything is going SO quickly, I can't believe it!

Anywho, does anyone have a Pediatrician rec. for someone who is willing to do things a little differently? I know Christina and Nia have a great one in Ahwatukee but that's a bit far from Gilbert but that's kind of what I'm looking for. I don't even know where to begin or how to find the right person!

Thanks so much!

yeah it is kind of far, but, worth it. It's all 60/10 to get there so as long as you aren't going at a crazy time of day it isn't so bad.

Sorry , I don't know of any others....hmmm maybe I do, she's an Asian lady that I've heard lots of good things about but I can't remember her name. I'll see if I can think of it

She comes very highly recommended from other "crunchy" moms, I don't think she is super heavy as far as pushing meds, she's more of a natural type, I've heard that it can be hard to get in to see her, but I haven't verified that personally and my best friend got her sick LO in there no problems.

  • Thanks Christina. Also, what is the name of the place you go to in Ahwatukee? I guess it couldn't hurt to check them out.

Kristie - We are looking for someone who is willing to do delayed vaccines, won't push antibiotics for every little thing, won't treat me like a bad mother for wanting to do things more naturally, etc. I think the pharmaceutical world AND the government are taking over everything and I hate it so I want someone who is more open to do things differently.

  • Ahwatukee pediatrics- Dr. Mary Jo Kutler and Dianne Olson (sp) - NP- I liked Dianne a little better but liked Dr. Kutler fine- Nia also sees Dianne

Got it. Then I got nothing for you, but it looks like Christina gave you lots of good stuff!

  • I LOVE Dianne!!!

Christina... I had to take Andrew in to see Dr. Kutler and she spent maybe 3 minutes in the room with us. Wrote up a script for an antibiotic and was outta there. Dianne actually spends time and tries to figure out what else we can do to make the kiddos better without all the drugs. I almost wanted to go back in the next day just so we can see Dianne.  FWIW... When I interviewed Dr. Kutler before we switched, I really liked her and her beliefs. I just feel like Dianne is a little more relaxed.

As far as the drive Stacy, I'm pretty sure when we move up North (eventually) I will STILL be bringing the kids to see Dianne. It's so hard to find someone who is so open and understanding with your wants/needs.

  • We take DD to Desert Shores Pediatrics. They have 2 locations...one in Gilbert and one in Chandler, but both are on the Southern part of the cities. Higley/Chandler Heights and Alma School/Ocotillo (I think).

They have about 10 Drs between the 2 sites and I really love the Gilbert office (never been to the Chandler one). I know that they all recommend the regular vaccine schedule, but they will follow what you want. I asked a bunch of questions initially because I thought I wanted the delayed schedule. They were definitely open to it. That said, DH and I decided to just do the regular one since she was going to be starting daycare and we feared that it might be easier to catch a bug there.

I have no idea about them pushing meds, but we have not had them give us anything for DD yet and we've had 2 colds and exema (sp). They've told us to use humidifier, saline drops, and lotion for the dry skin.

IMO if they recommended anything other than that for a cold , I'd be wary. So that is good!

I used her with DS#1 but hated her office wait....sometimes I waited and HOUR just to see her for a scheduled appt (not sick appt).  I have a wonderful ped in Gilbert (Lindsay/Pecos) Dr. Cindy Duke out of San Tan Mountain Pediatrics.  She's wonderful...very friendly and open to listening to the parents.  She spends alot of time with each patient but schedules accordingly.
