New to the board and a ?
Hi!
I'm brand new on here. I was over on the knot last summer, we're married and living in our home we bought right before the wedding.
With all the snow, we had some ice dams and leaks because of them. Does anyone have a contractor to recommend that that they know and like?

Sorry that I can't be more helpful, but we are having the same problem this winter with the ice dams and leaks and just called around a week ago and asked for quotes. We had a crew of 3 guys up on our roof shoveling it off BUT they wouldn't remove the ice dams- nervous of how much stress the shingles could take.
We had seen on the news a couple weeks ago to cut pantyhose and stuff them with calcium chloride and tie both ends and throw it up on your roof. (DH put one on the end of our roof rake and laid it along the ice dam) - did this 4 times and it worked just like salt on a driveway and melted the area around it, making a canal for the water to drain area once it started melting from the dam.
Not so sure if that's any help, but just make sure if you call anyone to get up on your roof- that they are insured!
