Diagnose DH

DH went to the doctor Wednesday and the doctor did a flu test and it was negative.  He said it was probably something bronchial so they gave him clarithromycin and a cough suppresant (that sucks!).  DH only had a 99 degree temp when he got there.  But.. prior to going to the doctor and since he got home from the doctor.  His fever keeps hanging around at 101.8, he has chills (and it feels like a sauna in the house to me), he is coughing, throwing up, and has no energy.

Would you call the doctor again tomorrow?  What would you do?  He looks like he truly feels like crap.

Re: Diagnose DH

  • Take him back to the doctor. A few weeks ago a friend of mine was diagnosed with bronchitis, took the meds and had improvement for a day or two. But then he kept getting fevers at night and ended up at the ER one night with a 103 fever, aches, and vomiting. That time it was the flu. Never hurts to be vigilant about this stuff.

  • I think he will, just to be safe.  But, my facebook friends are also informing me that vomiting and fever can come with bronchitis and sinus infections so maybe he just is really sick.  BOO!  A sick DH makes me crazy.

  • The hubs and I both had the flu last year, both our tests came back neg. but the doctor told us even before he gave it to us that they are only like 30% accurate or something crazy like that and that even if it came back neg. we had the flu.

  • Does the flu test test for all strains? I would go back, especially since he has other health issues (if I remember correctly.)
