I saw on the craft board that you were doing one of those chenille quilts.

I just read the tutorial and it looks AMAZING!! Have you started on it yet?

I'd like to make one of these soon and just wanted your thoughts/tips on the process.

Forgive my block of text- I am on my phone stuck in traffic. But yes, I have started it. If you can sew in straight lines it isn't too hard. Well, I should say I have started the burp cloths that will be the same way, I haven't started the actual blanket. I just pinned the appliqued cloth diaper to the layers of fleece all the way around the edges, then drew on lines every 1" apart. Then, I sewed all of those, and went back and sewed lines between the 1" lines, leaving 1/2" between seams. I haven't cut them yet, but I did buy a chenille cutter (Olfa). I have 1 done and 2 more in progress, then I'll start the blanket if the Nestie quilt along doesn't start soon. I plan to finish them this weekend and I can AW them here too if you want.

Let me know how the Olfa cutter works. I'm curious about how much pressure needs to be applied to avoid cutting through the front.

How much was the Olfa?

Also, I would never have done this without that cutter. Talk about ruining your hands. If you don't want to buy one, I am more than happy to send you mine if you'd like as soon as I finish these burp cloths. I won't be to the cutting stage on the other one for a VERY long time because it is going to be an interim project while I do mother's day quilts.

I have tested the cutter and it takes about the same amount of pressure as a rotary. Also, I don't think it will be hard to not cut through the base fabric because there is a little guard thing. The Olfa cutter was $26 with a 50% off coupon at my local Hancock. If you're going to buy one, be sure and call to see if they have it first- the Joann by me did not, and the Hancock people had no idea what I was asking for, so I was lucky I found one.
