I want cable tv back!

We canceled cable almost a year ago. We've done pretty good about watching over the air stuff. Some days we can't get the tv to pick up anything though :(  (I always thought of it being on the highest viewing days, when the good specials are on, that the tv won't work.) I don't understand. [And the NBC affiliate is literally no more than a mile in the bird flying world.]

I have not gotten to watch ANYTHING over the air at all this week. Crying  Just some 10 o'clock news and Jimmy Fallon is all I am asking for!

Re: I want cable tv back!

  • I feel you. We can only pick up Fox, but most of the stations are only a few miles away. I just don't get it. Most days it doens't bother me, but some nihts I just want to come home and veg in front of the TV.
  • I must be strange, because I love not having cable.

  • I think DH would go crazy without cable so I can't see us ever going without it. Have you tried streaming TV shows over the internet when you can't get anything else on? You could hook up your computer to your tv if you wanted to see it on a bigger screen.

  • Sometimes I don't want to wait the day or so that it takes. And the tv isn't hooked up the internet. Something about watching it on a computer is still odd to me. Plus, the 10 o'clock news isn't streamed. I really like watching the news, just something I grew up with.

Le sigh. there's no win to the situation.

  • I've been thinking about calling our Internet company (comcast) and seeing what our cable options are. DH keeps asking me if I will. He has plenty to do around the house, though, so he shouldn't be worried about TV!!!

  • I have also been thinking about calling Comcast and seeing what our options are. We have to pay an extra $20/month for internet because we don't have cable as it is. Stupid Comcast.
