Neat experience

H & I went to a marriage seminar at our church last night and this morning.  It was given by Jimmy Evans (great advice and teaching about marriage).  We were surprised at the end of the seminar this morning that they had everyone renew their vows.  Right down to taking off our rings and putting them on each others' hands again.  It was a nice way to celebrate our 3 month-aversary & Valentine's Day, but also to be able to really pay attention to what we were saying rather than being a ball of nerves like we were on our wedding day.

Just thought I'd share what a cool experience that was!

  • Awww that sounds really cool! I'd like to do something like that sometime...I always see it in the church bulletin. Thanks for sharing!
  • Oh that sounds so special! I love vow renewals. They can be so powerful, can't they? Sounds like a great marriage seminar.
  • Zara, it was put on by Jimmy & Karen Evans.  They have a site & fb page called Marriage Today.  They are very real about addressing issues in marriage and putting godly wisdom & scripture with it.  You should check them out!

jmkes - thank you! I like their website. Now that I am clicking around and seeing photos... funny thing... I thought his name sounded familiar. I think I interviewed him a few years ago for a work-related article? Very nice! I have never met his wife Karen, though. I would love to go to a weekend away like that. :)

  • that's wonderful! my husband and i are going to a retreat in two weeks and are looking forward to walking out of there with new insight into our relationship - i wonder if they'll do that as well...we'll see! :)
