I made:
Clam Dip with potato chips and celery/carrot sticks (This honestly had no flavor, I wont be making it again).
Lil smokies (These were a HIT!)
PW's bacon wrapped crackers (The guys loved this, and I did too! I left each end of the cracker exposed a little, and it gave a nice crunch to it).
Jalapeno jelly over a block of cream cheese with crackers. (I canned this over the summer and everyone raved about it. I added some sliced pickled jalapenos to it as well).
Last minute I added chicken salad in phyllo shells, with an arugula garnish. Everyone thought I made it from scratch, haha!!! I bought the shells in the freezer section and the chicken salad from GFS.
I also had chex and cocktail peanuts and did mini cupcakes.
As far as the cocktails went, I had numerous classic cocktail recipes on note cards so everyone could make the drink of their choice (with all liquors, mixers and garnishes set out as well as cocktail picks and numerous shakers, assorted glasses and a bucket of ice.)
Everyone had a great time, and liked the movies we showed (Arsenic & Old Lace, and Houseboat). Everyone wants me to host another classic movie night I wish I would have taken pics of the setup! Next time.
Thanks to everyone for your help!!!
Re: F/U to my cocktail party/movie night.
Fun! Sounds like it went really well! Too bad (and random) about the clam dip not working out.
And you can? Impressed.

Yeah, I was a little skeptical about the clam dip anyway, but it was little effort so thats ok.
Thanks! Do you can?
lol, no. My grandmother and mother both are two of the least domestic women you'll ever meet. (I feel bad for my grandfather - he's been eating dry chicken and burnt roast for 66 years now, poor guy. You'd think Grandma would have learned something along the way...) I learned to cook out of self-preservation
So needless to say, I didn't have anyone to learn from (and that's probably a good thing given their skills) and I think that's really a family thing you have to grow up with.
