Effective, natural insect repellent recs?

I usually post on my local board, but I don't know if they can help me much with this!  I'm looking for a safe, natural insect repellent (to apply to the skin to prevent mosquitoes and whatnot) that actually works.  Any recommendations?  Thanks!

Neem oil or spray? BF and I use this on the dogs, but also on ourselves.

I find that a lose-fitting light weight and light colored long sleeve shirt and pants works far better than any insect repellent, no matter how many toxic chemicals you are willing to put on your skin.  It also keeps direct sun off, which can be cooling (depending on where you are).

I can't remember the brand name, but it's a spray listed as "all-natural", in a green bottle with lots of colorful letters.  The main ingredient was geranium oil which worked pretty well for me.

Yep. Works well and I live in MS where the "skeeters" will eat you alive.
