Late on this, but I had Group B Strep too. A little different since I was induced, so already at the hospital when I started labor, but even with getting treated for GBS I was able to be off the monitors and IV and labor however I wanted until I chose to get the epidural, ten hours after they broke my water (dilated to a 4). Hopefully it won't impede your ability to labor however you need to so you can stay pain-med free.

I feel better when I hear other peoples experiences. My Dr did tell me that I didn't need to go on meds until my water broke, so I'm hoping that I can labor a while at home without my water breaking. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My husband already promised to push my pole if need be.
