So what did you do for V-day?

Whether you went all out or you boycotted, what did you do?
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

Re: So what did you do for V-day?

  • I slept in and woke up to a clean and beautiful kitchen courtesy of Huz. He surprised me with a dozen roses too! We hung out with the Buns (they got heart-shaped pieces of apple as a treat), and later went out for sushi at one of our favorite places. We tried to get froyo after, but it was closed. We came home, and I'm making boston creme pie cupcakes. Huz is looking up inspiration for his next whittling project. He has to go to work later ::sadface:: but it was a really great day already!

Update! He didn't have to go to work, so we watched The Princess Bride (my favorite movie) on AMC! Yay!

  • Since it is a work day, we had a lovely dinner of teriyaki salmon (homemade teriyaki sauce made by the huz), roasted broccoli (and like you Passanie, I did not burn it!) & baked beans. We also had some newhattan chowder from a local seafood restaurant we got yesterday. To.die.for.

We rounded off our meal with leftover bday cake.

Not sure if you saw my picture on FB but we exchanged gifts and had the same idea. He got me the minons form the Despicable Me and I got him the Blu Ray DVD of it! It was great!

We are now stuffed and veggin on the couch and about to go to bed.

  • I waited in the pharmacy for an hour and a freaking half!!!!! Plus, they were out of birth control pills! Really??? On Valentine's day?? There are going to be a lot of November babies! LOL

Ok, venting aside...thankfully we didn't have anything big planned for the day. We are going to a Chinese New Year dinner at Chef Chu's tomorrow, that will be super-yum! I worked and then snuck out to lunch with a friend, that was a nice surprise. DH is not feeling so good today :(

    Happy Valentine's everyone!

Life is a roller coaster, enjoy it!

  • We stayed in and I made the dinner dh requested: pizza, followed by individual chocolate cakes. Yummy. I got him a card and he didn't do anything for me. Indifferent Well, he vacuumed.

  • Ours was yesterday, but we exchanged little gifts (candy for him, flowers for me) and went out to Indian food. It was delicious!
  • Both DH and I worked. Came home, cleaned the house, ate pizza, ate cake (DH made the cutest heart cake while I was at work) watched a movie and went to bed early. Nothing exciting.

  • I went to yoga. We did eat a fast dinner together before I had to leave. We never really do anything for holidays, especially V day. I did get flowers from the guys at work which totally was unexpected and made my day!
  • We spent the day in Napa on Saturday with some friends.  We both worked yesterday, so I made dinner at home.  He got me 3 dozen roses and I got him a card.  We don't usually do anything and I thought we had agreed on just cards.  Oops!

  • It was just a normal night for us, dinner and TV.  DH did get me a card, but only because he happened to come across one while running errands that references an inside joke between us--we don't normally celebrate V-day.  I got him an almond cookie from the Chinese bakery but then accidentally left it behind at work yesterday so he'll be getting it today instead Stick out tongue
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

That is adorable. You're like the happy version of "Gift of the Magi!"

  • We made home made personal pizzas, drank a nice bottle of wine, and watched a movie

  • Nothing too special for dinner - but we did share a frozen yogurt for dessert at this local yogurt shop. Ahhh, so good!

  • Well, despite making me promise not to do anything, and promising me he would be doing nothing, I got flowers at work yesterday from our wedding florist.  Pink tulips, yellow roses...just a small, but beautiful arrangement.

Last night, we rented and watched Shakespeare In Love and make turkey burgers, sweet potato fries, and artichokes.  It was a great night.

  • J surprised me at work with a beautiful bouquet of purple and white flowers from the local florist and a card. I ended up getting him a card and baking German Chocolate (his favorite) cupcakes and made enchiladas for dinner. We watched Tabitha's Salon Makeover until we both fell asleep. Definitely pretty good considering this was the first V-Day we've had where we haven't gone out to dinner.
  • Yesterday we had lunch together and that was about it.  I had class after work and then came home and cleaned out the hamster cage and did some homework.  H had dinner with his mom b/c his dad is out of town.

Sunday, however, we did the wine tasting at Testarossa b/c they had a chocolate pairing.  That was fun. =)

  • DH got me flowers(roses from pro-flowers) and cards and brought home goodies scrounged from work give-aways.

I made him dinner and we ate at the table.

Then we went to bed because it was already 9pm.

  • We don't really do Valentine's Day. It's actually the day I told DH I was becoming a vegetarian, three years ago at a Thai restaurant, so we went and got Thai last night kind of as a joke  :)  The vegi-versary. In years past, I've also bought chocolate for us to share (any excuse for chocolate) but since we kind of overindulged this past weekend, I skipped it this year. After dinner, my brother came over to fix my computer :P  Very romantic.
  • We planned to have casual evening at home and I was going to make breakfast for dinner after DH expressed a disinterest in me making fondue. I'm usually very against going out on V-day due to the crowds and general dinner madness.

Instead, DH surprised me by showing up at my work with flowers and stole me away from work early (he'd asked my boss via email). He took me out for fondue (that rascal) after he surprised me with Verizon's iPhone 4! The poor guy spent numerous hours at the store to get one. I've been wanting and waiting for one forever but had convinced myself to wait to see if this summer Verizon would get the iPhone 5. DH said he'll upgrade me to the 5 whenever it comes out :)

We've never been "big" on V-day, so this was seriously one of the best ever. I'm still sort of in shock. It was really wonderful and I'm thrilled to have my new toy. :D

  • We ordered Thai take out from my favorite place, gave B some doggie fro yo and watched tv. I also got to enjoy a delicious glass of wine that had me totally knocked out in bed by 9:30. Both H and I failed to get eachother cards but I got him some food goodies and took a rain check on what he got me :)

  • We were going to make fondue but at the last minute DH decided he didn't want to. So he got Chinese food that turned out to not be good. But it was still nice to eat together since we rarely do with him out performing. We hung out and had a nice evening. Oh and exchanged cards. We had bought some desserty treats the day before to enjoy, too.
  • I came home from to DH taking apart the plumbing under our kitchen sink because once again the cheap garbage disposal failed to do its job. He fixed it and cleaned up the mess after a lot of swearing, then he bbqed some steaks while I made some side dishes. He also baked me a chocolate cake which we ate while watching House. He got me a card and chocolates and said he thought about buying flowers, but knew that Mickey would eat them.

  • Went to a fancy French restaurant that neither of us had tried before and over-indulged!
  • Oh yes, and he had flowers sent to my work and surprised me!
