Ever since my mom's tentative MS diagnosis they've been making her do a TON of testing to confirm. Well, today she had to have a spinal tap among a bunch of other tests. They called her with the time, where to go, all kinds of details, yet somehow failed to mention that she wouldn't be able to drive herself home because she has to stay reclined for hours. How do you not tell someone that?
Now DH and I have to drive downtown to get her and the car (which I don't mind doing for her AT ALL). I'm so pissed that they didn't tell her beforehand. What if we weren't around to go get her? I'm lucky enough to work from home and have the flexibility, but if not she would have been stuck there.
And yes, I realize that she probably should have asked, but that doesn't excuse them not telling her. They even said "oh, well of course you can't drive home, that's the first thing we tell everyone." Um, everyone except my mom apparently! My poor mom is so stressed out, uncomfortable/in pain and she called me as though she felt horrible about me having to come get her, which is SO not her fault. Stupid people suck. Ok. Vent over.
Re: Ugh! Doctor's Office Fail! So annoyed!
Aw, lots of T&P for her. And she's lucky to have a daughter who is so concerned for her!
That is pretty bizarre they didn't say anything to her! I wouldn't have known either.
So sorry! I'm right there with you that they should've told her. I admittedly don't know all that much about spinal taps (other than they hurt like a biotch), and wouldn't have known to ask, so I don't think it was on her to ask either.
Either way, good thing you were able to go. Hope she feels better quickly and gets the answers she needs!
