Adding to Table ?

Those of you who eat at the couch, one you have babies or your babies arrive will you eat at the table?

Re: Adding to Table ?

  • I'll say, it was easy to stay eating on the couch until he started moving about. Once he started crawling and pulling up it was terrible for him to crawl over to us and want what we were having (we would normally eat real fast then take him to the kitchen and feed him).

  • Yup we will, now if/when we had a 2nd kiddo we will probably move to the dining room.
  • Once the baby can eat meals with us (feeding times and able to eat some of what food is made) we will have meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) at the dining table.  That's how I grew up (all 3 meals if breakfast was more than cereal or toast) and DH grew up with family dinner every night.

Yes I really hope we stick with this type of eating ritual too!!

I just wanted to say this is also how I grew up and what DH and I do now.  So I can't wait to pass this on.  Even on the weekends, we eat all our meals together.  I just realized we even do it when my parents visit!

I really like it and it was nice as a kid for us all to sit down and eat dinner as a family.

  • We do dinner now at the table. Always have. Dunc still eats earlier than we do during the week but on weekends we try and match his schedule so we can eat as a family.

  • Things will be different when we have the baby. Since I will be a SAHM I will probably cook meals (quick ones) and we always eat at the table when I cook.

  • as it is now, she eats around 6-6:30.  one of us feeds her while the other cooks our dinner.  after she's done eating we get her ready for bed then i go and nurse her.  we have the timing down perfectly now that as soon as she's asleep, our dinner is ready so we eat and catch up.

the other night at my parents we ended up eating at her dinner time so she sat at the table and ate with us.

i guess it all depends on the timing in the future but at the moment i like feeding her first because we get that one on one time with her where we aren't trying to eat ourselves and not really enjoy our meal because it's crazy (her eating usually involves blowing raspberries with a mouth full of carrots or peas at her dad because he taught her how to do that).

we never really ate at the table together growing up, we just all ate in the same area.  still to this day at family dinners we do the same thing uness it's a special ocassion.

  • Kiley eats at 5, when she is older she probably will eat with us.  We don't eat till like 6:30-7 so we put her in her bumbo on the table and she eats a rice cookies while we eat.  Or we put her on the floor to play, but she likes to be at the table with us.
  • When she started eating with us around 6 1/2 months we moved to meals at the kitchen table.

  • This may sound strange, but we always eat at the table, unless it is a snack. Since Andrew and I started dating I made it clear meals were eaten at a table. Which his family does not do, so him and I would always eat in the kitchen away from the table. When Xander was little he was in the swing next to the dinning room table for our meals, now he's in the high chair.

  • Yes, once we have children and they eat with us, we'll be eating at the table.  I grew up in a home where we ate all of our meals at the table.  I want to instill that in our children too.

  • we eat at the table more often now.  Once G is ready for solids, we will eat there full time

  • I always wanted to just eat at the table, but my Dh plays Everquest 2 and is a guild leader and they raid Sun, Mon, Wen, Fri nights from 5-8pm... yes I know I married a geek:) I think once the baby is old enough to sit at the table with us we will have dinner at the table. This is how i grew up and I would have it no other way!
