Good neighborhood in Orange County?

Hello! I'm moving from Pennsylvania to California in a few months, and I'm looking for a little help figuring out where to live. My husband will be working in Covina, CA, but we originally thought we'd be moving to Orange County and had been looking there, and we'd like to try to stay in that area. We'd like to find a decent one br apt for about $2000 or less per month. We are looking for a neighborhood that is safe, has some fun places to eat, shop, and go out that are close, and is less than an hour away from Covina. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Re: Good neighborhood in Orange County?

  • You could try Brea, Yorba Linda and parts of Fullerton to try and stay in OC but keep the commute in the 1-1.5 hour range...depending on traffic. GL with the move :)

  • Ditto Zeesbride on recs. And welcome I'm from PA (if you're like me you will love the weather, but miss the leaves and colors)

  • Ditto zeesbride as well. You can find an apt for $2000 in N. OC. I live in N.OC and work right next to Covina. My commute is 25 mins and I go against traffic.
  • Thanks for the tips ladies! I will check out those neighborhoods.
  • I would agree. The traffic would be opposite, so even check out parts of Diamond Bar and include Brea, Fullerton, Placentia, and Yorba Linda.

  • Can't beat Irvine for safety and schools. Its been on the top ten list for safety for years. There are some great apts and townhomes for 1500-2000$ We pay1,385$ for a 1br with a garage and W/D in a great community. Commute wouldnt be too bad your mostly against traffic, but it could be an hour or more if there is bad weather or an accident.
  • Diamond Bar and Pomona are just South of Covina and are really nice. Good luck!
