Anyone been to Big River Running?

I need new running shoes, I signed up for the 5k the weekend of the St. Louis Marathon, and my current shoes desperately need to be replaced.  A friend recommended Big River and said they recommend shoes based on your stride, foot, etc.  Anyone been there that can attest to this?

TIA!

Re: Anyone been to Big River Running?

  • I will be running the half that weekend!

I have not been to big river running, I get fitted at fleet feet and have always had great experiences.  I know there are a few other runners on this board, maybe they will come out and comment as well.

    Good luck in the race!

  • I'm running the half, too!

I've been to Big River to pick up race packets before and everyone seems very friendly and knowledgeable. I've been fitted for shoes at Fleet Feet, but I'm sure you'd have a good experience at Big River as well.

    Good luck ladies!

  • I got my shoes at Big River. Everyone was super friendly and nice. I was just starting out doing Couch to 5K and the sales guy just watched me walk in my bare feet to check out my arches and stride. I think if I was buying shoes for a marathon, they might have done a more in depth fitting but what I got was adequate for what I do. I'm very very happy with my shoes.

  • Thanks for the help ladies, I ended up going there, and they were really helpful.  I'm doing the 5k the weekend of the marathon.

Annek, I actually just started the Couch to 5k a couple weeks ago, and so far so good!  Did you enjoy the program?

  • C25K is a GREAT program! I remember looking ahead to week 3 thinking, "Three minutes? I can't run for three minutes!" but now I run 3 MILES every other day without stopping. Stick with it; it works. I know the third run of week 5 seems daunting (20 minutes?!?!?!) but you CAN do it. And if you're like me, you'll feel great about yourself when you're done!

I totally felt that way about the three minute run intervals!  Luckily, we're traveling to Florida soon, so I'm hoping warm weather and a change of scenery will be extra motivation as I get further into the program.

  • I know this post is from awhile ago but I wanted to comment that we just went there over the weekend for new shoes. Instead of re-typing everything, you can read about it here:

It was the Manchester location. Overall I liked them but next time I will try Fleet Feet too.
