Nook Issues?

DH just had to call Barnes & Noble about ANOTHER problem with his Nook. It's the 2nd time they've had to replace it under warranty.

The fist time the button to change pages wasn't working and this time it simply won't power on.

We just received the replacement unit and it's not even brand new.  It's a "factory certfied pre-owned" unit.  WTH... we bought a new one, we'd like a new one to replace it!!

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Re: Nook Issues?

  • I personally have not had any issues with mine, but I haven't had it very long either.

You might wander over the the book club board to see what others are experiencing.

  • I have had my Nook since they first shipped (over a year) and haven't experienced any issues with it.

That said if you are unhappy with the factory refurbished unit, I would call to politely complain and request what you want. You need to be polite but firm, willing to wait and repeatedly ask for a supervisor. Eventually you will get what you want. I always get what I want when using these tactics.

  • No problems here either. (and I got DH his on the first possible shipment)

I would call and complain and get what you want . . . especially since this is your 2nd problem. That being said, I don't believe they are required to give you a brand new item.

  • I've had mine since September and used it several times daily. I haven't had a single issue.

If you want a new one, certainly complain. However - I don't see the big deal. At least a refurb has been really checked out and you know it works. But if you want new, demand new.
