Veggie gardens with house for sale

Our house will go back on the market in a few weeks.  I've always started some tomatoes and other things from seed.  This year, I'm thinking I'll go mostly with container gardening, so we can bring everything with us.

I'm wondering if anyone else who is an avid gardener can chime in on working the earth, while trying to sell it at the same time.

I'm already trying to figure out which plants and flowers we'll write into the contract to bring along.

Tips/Suggestions?

  • I didn't write anything into the contract. If I liked it, I tried to take it with me. If not, it stayed.

I sold in the late summer/early fall, so I wasn't doing a whole lot of maintenance at the time. I added some annuals in the front for curb appeal, but that was about it.

  • I wouldn't write anything into the contract.  If you can't dig it up before you sign a contract, I would just let it go.  Don't let the container gardening have a negative impact on the look of the property.  You don't want your patio or deck to look crowded.  Unless you are relocating nearby, transporting plants can be a big hassle.
  • I have some plants that have sentimental value.  My first Mother's Day peony, an anniversary and birthday present here and there...  And there there are some that I just love: we have some great hostas that I can't find anywhere else, etc.

We're going to be moving no more than 30 miles away, probably, so I'm not worried about transport.

Thanks for the tips, ladies.  I'm lost right now, I'm normally so excited about this time of year, and planning like crazy.  :(  Trying to remember that I'll likely be starting with a blank canvas, which is pretty exciting too.
