Anyone around? Need restaurant help!
A friend is taking his wife out for her 40th bday tomorrow; they have dinner plans downtown. He'd like to get a group of friends to meet them for drinks afterward--around 7pm. There will be 10-12 of us and he wants it to be a place where we can get seats and hear each other (so, not HopCat).
San Chez has nothing for a party that big; DH has checked online and called them. Where else can we go? We don't get downtown a whole lot, but when we do, it's to San Chez. Ironically.
So I have no real suggestions and need some help, please. TIA!

What? I thought someone did their rehearsal dinner at San Chez... weird.

Might be more helpful than I can be right now.
Oh, I just meant *tomorrow* they don't have space for us.
The place is huge, but 7pm on a Friday is a bit much to ask... even with 2 days' notice, I guess (DH called yesterday).

I wonder if any of the hotel lounges would be a good space to meet up. Lumber Barons in the Amway Grand, Mixology in the JW.
I can't vouch for the space but the Viceroy on Commerce seems like a cool space. It is owned by the same people who own Hopcat. The door is always locked you have to know the password to get in. (its 1930, you punch it in to the door lock).
My BIL loves Viceroy!
I suggested Bistro Bella Vita, McFadden's, and Derby Station to our friend.
Thanks for the other ideas... keep 'em coming if possible. I'm sending him a list.

OMG, that is SO cool! Is their food actually good? Do they carry the theme inside as well? I want to go!
Seems like it, based on the Yelp.com reviews.

I've only been to Bar Divani for a private party, once. They had us in a separate area--what is the main area like?

Never heard of it--going to look it up. Thanks for the tip!

I've passed it a couple of times. Maybe a GNO is in order to discover what it is like. I'm assuming that if you like Hopcat food you will like Viceroy as well.

If you want a place where you can talk, but are not worried about it being hip or fun, there is a small bar in the Courtyard by Marriott downtown. We went there once after volunteering after an event downtown. It was nice because it was quiet and we could talk and relax.
It looks like it has been renovated since we have been.

Sounds good to me!
