hey girls i know that i don't post a lot here more of a lurker but i am coming to you to see what you would do about something. A couple of months ago i came and asked about job situation well this is kinda the same situation.
Okay let me give you some background. I am a recent college graduate. My husband is still a student. We have an apartment in Morehead, Ky which is where DH attends college. He will be student teaching starting in January so we will have to move back up to Newport, Ky, so i would have to quit this job and find another when we move. Another thing is that my in-laws have already paid for our vacation for this summer.
So here's my problem. I have been offered 2 jobs. One job that gives me no benefits, very low pay and practically no time off. I wouldn't be able to get off for the family vacation in June even though i give them much in advanced warning.
The other is a baby sitting job for this school semester and next semester for a friends 3 year old. I like this because i would have weekends free to do what i want and be able to go see our parents which live 2 hours in opposite directions from where we live. I've have been watching her since she was born off and on. This would also give me a chance to do something that i really want to do and that is start my own photography business on the side. And once we move continue it.
What do you think i should do? Please state your opinions. I will not be offended or anything by what you say. I really need help trying to decide this.
Re: WWYD
I think you have already answered your question. I would take the babysitting job and try to start up your photog business. You stated that is what you want to do, and it sounds like you will me miserable doing the 1st job (low pay, not time off). I think that could raise some unhealthy problems for yourself and between you and her husband/family. I say take the babysitting job and enjoy it. Enjoy your vacay and good luck with the photog bus!!
If for some reason the business isn't making the $$ you need it to by the time the job is up, well, you'd have to find a new job anyway with the move, right?
Since you have something else lined up, I'd have a hard time telling you to take a job with low pay & no benefits, especially with your heart being in something else..
You aren't losing anything by doing the job you prefer since the first job doesn't offer any benefits.
