Vents/AW/Confessions.

I'm wearing my cranky-pants today.

Argh.  Too many things went wrong this morning and I was late with the treats.  I know the rules and I'll pay the HH fine, no biggie.  But everyone feels the need to rib me about it, the SECOND I walked in.  As if I'm the only person that's ever been late or something.  Pffft.  And I'm not in the mood.

As if being late wasn't bad enough, I had a bottle of washer fluid leak ALL OVER my trunk.  My husband left it there and didnt tell me, so it bounced around and busted. I leave Alexis' port-a-crib in the trunk, so I'm used to hearing stuff slide around, so the noise of it did't raise any flags.  Nor did the port-a-crib banging into it help, I'm sure.  My poor car isn't even a year old!

Bah.

Re: Vents/AW/Confessions.

  •  AW- I am having the best day in a long time!!!  Found out last night that our tax return is almost quadruple what it normally is because of our school tuition!  We will be able to pay off almost our entire second mortgage with the amount!

And I also just found out that my new school (for my BA) is accepting the 19 credits that my AA school did not accept (I did these 19 credits right out of high school) and as a result of this I do not need to take the extra 13 electives on top of the 49 I need for my major!!!  So incredible stoked!  This will save me a ton of $ and time and it feels so good to know that the year I spent in school after high school wasn't a complete waste!

  • I am sitting in a conference and I have NO clue why my firm was invited. I design houses and this is about contractors bidding MNDOT road construction projects. I just called my boss and she thinks I should stay but I don't think she realizes how worthless this is. Oh well, I am getting paid regardless. Would it be rude to sit and play battleship for 2 more hours?? The lady who invited my firm must have been smokin' something. I would be more at home at a dental conference lol!!?

  • Vents only today...I got AF a week and a half early...awesome!!  And I have to spend the entire weekend with my co-workers up in St. Cloud by myself...which I'd rather walk on hot coals then do.

  • AW: I leave for my cruise in just over a week and I'm super excited.  Dying for a break.

    Vents Can't really complain.

Confessions: I have been on a non-stop spending spree these past few months and it's gotten to be pretty irresponsible.  I'm hoping I can rein it in soon...

  • Confession: If I had a food journal this week would look like this: 48% cheese, 48% girl scout cookies, 1% baby carrots, 1% sugar snap peas and 2% dip/hummus. I have been living on leftover party food and I have had a headache all week - I wonder if my diet has anything to do with it?! ;)

Vent: It was a not a good communication week for Joe and I. We both have been making some petty comments at each other because we (Joe!) aren't communicating well. Looking forward to a weekend with some down time together.

AW: I scored a $5 vintage (1950s) chair last night at The Cottage House sale. I'm excited to paint the wood and recover the seat...

  • AW:  I leave for West Yellowstone, MT today for 10 days.  You have no CLUE how much a break is needed!!

Vent:  this brace is bugging the heck out of me.  I write like a Kindergarten student.  It drives me INSANE that I have to write on permanent files for our company with my handwriting looking like this!

    Confession:  nothing too fun.

Random thought:  I think my calculator at work is possessed.   It will just randomly clear itself out and advance the tape.  And just now it had a DATE written on it!!!!   I have not used the calculator since this morning when I added up something for our Fargo office.  Total for that was $1002.00.  The date was written exactly like this:  1-14-2005    Where in the crazy world did this date come from?!?!  Maybe my desk is in the Office Bermuda Triangle.

Confession: mine would be similar: 32% cheese, 32% donuts, 32% tagalongs, 2% broccoli, 1% apple, 1% chicken. For some reason this has been a week of indulging myself and using pregnancy as an excuse, hopefully I can control myself better next week.

Vent: Once again, I wish I knew what I wanted to be when I grow up.

AW: eh, I got nothing this week.

Fun!  I love doing that sort of thing.

AW:  I got to teach a law school class this morning!  I normally freak out when I have to speak in public but this went really well and I actually had fun.  I hope the regular instructor lets me fill in for her more often.

Vent:  The application deadline for my pretty-darn-close-to-dream job closed 3 weeks ago and they haven't called anyone for interviews yet.  Or at least that's what a colleague said who has a sort of inside scoop.  She also said the applicant pool is highly qualified.  Damn.  I really, really want this job because it's exactly what I want to do and...

Confession:  I'm not really enjoying having my own law practice.  I love the legal side but I cannot stand the business side.

  • I had McDonald's for breakfast and I'm planning on having frozen pizza for lunch. I don't really care, i just want greasy food today.

We're dog sitting this adorable foster - and I think i want to keep it, but it has an application in and will probably be getting adopted this week so... that's out the window. Oh, well.

  • Confession: Andy had an accident about 3 weeks ago - he broke both bones in his lower leg and have to have surgery to insert a titanium rod and a metal plate. He had a follow-up doctor appt yesterday, and he was told he should start walking on his leg, there's no danger of re-injuring it because of the hardware holding everything in place. He has very little pain at this point, but he's afraid to try putting weight on the leg, so he's still relying on crutches. I've been pushing him to try walking with crutches as the doctor suggested, but he just doesn't want to. I know it's totally selfish, but I so want him to be able to walk without the crutches because then he'll be able to do so much more for himself and I don't have to help so much. I'm so exhausted from taking care of him, my chores, his chores, and it's one of the busiest months of the year for me at work. Ugh. I know he has it harder than me since he's the injured one, but I've been really feeling sorry for myself this week.

AW: I've reached my New Year's resolution goal of losing 10 pounds. I've lost 12 pounds since Jan. 1. Of course, the 8 pounds I've lost the last 3 weeks are mostly because I've been so exhausted and when I'm sleep deprived I lose my appetite. Hopefully I can keep the weight off and not gain it back when my routine can return to some sort of normalcy.

  • Confession: I wore my lululemon groove pants to work yesterday. I wore them with a long shirt that could be wore with leggings. No one was the wiser and I was comfy all day! After work I changed my top and shoes and headed out for a 7 mile run.

AW: I am so excited for tomorrow. We are going to Treasure Island with my BIL and SIL overnight. They are so excited because they have an overnight babysitter and we are all excited because it was an annual event but we weren't able to go last year because I was out of work. No income + casino do not = good outcome :)

Vent: I am an idiot for wearing heels today. I have been up and down 1.5 flights of stairs and running around, carrying large amounts of paper, and on my feet ALL day and they hurt. I should have known better. I do enjoy the opportunity to not be a blob at a computer for a day every now and then though.

Vent part 2: I hate IE. I know I can't complain because I am on here at work, but I got so used to Mozilla Firefox. I miss the spell check. I don't have authority to install the add to IE on to this computer. I make lots of spelling mistakes apparently. I apologize.

  • My only vent:  I'm getting tired with feeling like a dememoralized public sector worker.

All the stuff with Wisconsin's teachers brought it to a head for me.  My department has been going through budget cuts since the first state shortfall in 2000.  It's not gotten a whole lot better since then.  There is no more "fat" to cut in this department.  I get it that my wages are paid by the public.  But I'd like the public to know that I'm not just sitting on my a s s all day eating ding dongs and chatting with co-workers.  I actually work and work hard.  Our motto since 2000 has been "Do more with less." and we have been.  For the last 10 years we've had raises of .5%-2% or no raise at all.  We've seen out health care premiums increase by 4 times what we were paying 5 years ago.  We've lost co-workers to lay offs and retirement and they're not replaced.

I get it that the private sector has it bac, but some of us public sector people have been having it bad for 10 years.  There's not much more to cut.

  • Vent(s)... I injured my hip in a really stupid way 1.5 years ago, and my chiropractor worked on it some but that's about it. Fast forward to last month and my new chiro said I really needed an MRI. Two MRIs later, I now know I have two tears in my hip, and I have to see an orthopedist to figure out the next step. I REALLY wish if this had to happen, it would have all happened when I still had excellent health benefits. Hopefully my tax return will cover most of my deductible... we'll see.

Vent #2 (sorry)... When I interviewed for my current job, they asked if I would coach a certain extracurricular activity, and of course I said yes. Well, now it means having every Saturday from mid-January to mid-April taken up with 8-12 hours of this activity (plus a few hours on weekdays). Pretty sure that adds up to about $4 an hour. I miss my 2-day weekends!

AW: President's Day... so happy I have a 2-day weekend because of it! DH also got me a Polar HRM for Valentine's Day so I'm excited to set it up and try it out Sunday.

  • CONFESSION: I seriously know 437 people that are pregnant right now. I am happy for all of them, but I am kind of over getting phone calls on a weekly basis with a pregnancy announcement. I feel terrible saying it, because it has NOTHING to do with these friends or how I feel about them being parents. It just kind of stops being exciting after the 143rd phone call.

AW: I am working with a integrative nutritionist who has literally changed my life in 3 weeks. I feel better than I have felt in YEARS, and many of my health issues that I have been in and out of the doctor for are either completely gone or significantly improved. I feel fantastic, and working with this nutritionist is one of the best things I have ever done for myself.

VENT: I LOVE our foster dog, he is the sweetest boy in the world and he get's along with Popeye so well, they are like 2 peas in a pod.....BUT he has diarreah and a UTI, and I am REALLY REALLY tired of cleaning up sh!t and pee all over my house multiple times a day!  He goes out literally every 2 hours, but he will still mess in the house.  He is on a bland diet now and an antibiotic, so it has gotten better in the last 24 hours, but I was about ready to rip my hair out. It's not the poor buddy's fault, but I really really really dislike cleaning up dog messes.

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO
