what kind of composter do you recommend?
We need to have something enclosed to compost in...I've seen a few that look good but I have no idea what I'm looking for.
This one is "heavy duty" per the description. I like that it has the tray that comes out...seems easy to use.

This one seems easy to use because you can just spin it but how do you get what's ready out without disturbing the rest?
Re: what kind of composter do you recommend?
With the tumbler type, I think you just dump the whole thing at once. You may want a sifter of some type to make sure everything is ready and then dump the stuff that's too big back in the bin.
With the column type, I couldn't figure out how to turn the mix. Would it be hard to stick a pitch fork in? Do you need a special tool? But it would be nice to have the pull out drawer with wheels. Does it have a shelf or something so that when you pull the bottom out, the rest doesn't fall down?
I think it depends on your style and how frequent you're adding stuff to it. Personally, I prefer the tumbler type.
Last year, DH and I looked into these two types of composters too. We ended up with one similar to the top. It requires a pitchfork to mix and we had to water it frequently as our stuff was too dry. The good news was we could add to it at any time.
I sort of wish we got the tumbler one. From what I remember, you put a whole load in at once and tumble it like once a week. Then the stuff is ready in about 3 months. Now I wonder if having both types is the way to go.
