Well I'm a teacher so ya I have the day off.  But we're rallying at the Capitol Monday against some really bad things going through the legislator right now that has to do with the future of my job.

kick ass and take names, lady! ( i'm VERY pro-union and i'm appalled at the crap states are trying to pull right now. i dont know WHAT the deal is, but i just do not understand where they think they're going to get trying to steamroll unions and state-workers! )

No, Ilve got to work Monday. One of the worst things about working at a store tailored to children is when they have a break from school and some of those demons come in and tear the store apart.

Not a teacher but I have the day off. We never have holidays like this off... I'll take it!

Yup, I am off both Monday and Tuesday. Down here, kids get what they call Winter Break even though it is almost 80 degrees here.

I'm a teacher, but we don't have President's Day off.  Texas takes off Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, instead.  I'll be working Monday with the masses- minus the post office and bank, of course.

It really is super scary especially since I'm a newer teacher but will have my Master's in June, which will put me higher on the pay scale.  Our superintendent of instruction is a total tool and really is only into for the kickbacks and to get the unions out.  It embarasses me that he was even elected.

We've been off 4 days here in Madison, WI because our union is telling teachers to call in sick to go down to the capitol to protest the budget "repair" bill our governor is trying to push through. What we are protesting is the fact that it takes away almost all collective bargaining rights of our unions.

The protests have been amazing. Everyone coming together peacefully to have our voices heard.

i've been following it like flies on sh!t. i love it! go team! srsly, the news reports of "union thugs taking over madison" are totally cracking me up. yea... i can TOTALLY see it? seriously, what kind of governor threatens to call in the National Guard (aka violent suppression) on teachers? what a dbag.
