Resume Help

Hi All,

I am hoping you can help me figure out how to format my resume to best reflect my accomplishments! I am applying for a managing editor position and here is my dilemma:

My title at work is manager. However, I have several subtitles depending on what project I am working on. One subtitle is managing editor for a magazine. I have been managing editor within this project for 5 years. I have only been manager for a few months because I just got promoted (before I was a coordinator).

Obviously I need to highlight my managing editor position for this new job. How do I do this in my resume? Do I list my multiple titles?

Also, since I have only had my new title (manager) for a few months, how do I list accomplishments? I don't have much yet that I have done in this specific position.

I hope this post makes sense...thanks for any help!

Re: Resume Help

  • I would do something like

    Company          Location

    Manager

Bulleted job description; don't worry about accomplishments since it's only been a few months

    Coordinator

    Managing editor for X Magazine

    Other bulleted duties and accomplishments

I would also highlight the managing editor gig in your cover letter so they know you have experience in this field.
