Tips/Hints/Advice: Share your favorites
I was just telling our foster daughter about how I add a couple of capfuls of bleach to our dishwater whenever I wash dishes because it helps sanitize and cuts grease on glasses and silverware. It got me thinking about all those tips and tricks that my mom and grandmothers handed down to me that I am now handing down to my own daughters.
Do you have any household or beauty tricks that someone gave you that has been proven to really work well for you? Please share!

Missing our little turkey.
Estimated Due Date 11/13/12 | Natural Miscarriage 4/17/12
HA. When I read it, I was thinking a dishwasher...and wondering how to successfully use liquid bleach in it! haha.
P.S. Thanks for the tip! I have some silverware that just won't come clean!
Put a wet sponge in the microwave for a minute to kill bacteria and the skunky smell (that is, if it's not at the point of just needing tossed). **make sure it's like wrung-out wet... a dry sponge will ignite! no joke.
I'm also a BIG fan of the sponge wand, with the soap in the handle. I can't stand the smell of dirty sponge on my hands. Also great for cleaning glassware.
Toss a lemon, orange or lime wedge in the disposal to clean it out and smelling fresh.
*Edit*
Also, I keep my flour in the fridge. No bugs in my flour!!
Dust once a week with a dryer sheet - it repels the dust and keeps the house cleaner longer.
You can make your own febreeze by placing a dryer sheet in boiling water. Let it simmer for a few minutes, then cool. Remove the dryer sheet, and place water into a spray bottle. Spritz your house whenever you want.
Put a drop of honey on an incoming pimple, and let it sit there for 5-10 minutes, then go wash that area of your body. The honey pulls the bacteria out. (My mom used to give me honey facials on our girls day in. Cleared up the acne really well.)
I use vinegar to cut mineral build up around faucets (not so much at home, but at work).
If a pot has gunk burnt on the bottom boil water w/baking soda to clean it.
I read it as dishwasher too and was wondering where you would put it? In with the soap? Blonde moment!
I am definitely going to try dusting with a dryer sheet, my house is so dusty all the time, I have changed the furnace filter and everything. Not sure why we have so much dust!!
Hairspray or rubbing alcohol to remove ink from clothing, also wash in cold water.
Newspaper (instead of paper towels) when cleaning windows and mirrors.
Store coolers at the end of the season with newspaper and a little baking soda so they are fresh for the next use.
