Re: LA ladies
I think Descanso. For some reason, every time I go to The Huntington, I feel a little stressed out (strange, right?). Even though they do have the big rose garden and tea room. It always feels too busy, and to crowded for me.
Another tip, check out Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens in Claremont. I actually enjoyed that more than Descanso or The H. We went for the first time yesterday, it was cold and rainy, but really beautiful. All native California plants, trees and flowers, good signage. Good trail, plenty of benches to sit and relax.
Another option is LA County Arboretum, but it's pretty big and you have to make quite an effort to get from section to section. Might be more for your little one to enjoy, though.
