desperate for ideas - WW party food

Its been a long time since I'v posted (and usually posted on my local board),  I have been searching this site all morning and I've gotten some wonderful ideas for themes for my daughter's birthday party next month.

She's turning 2, we are hosting a party (in our home) and the guests will mostly be adults (with the exception of my daughter, 2, son, 4, nieces, 4 and 11 months)

We are inviting only family (which is a large enough crowd, 25-30ppl) and most of the adults are trying to lose weight through Weight Watchers. 

Does anyone have any incredibly tasty WW recipes for apps, side salad, and a protein/main dish?

On the list already:

california rolls (sushi) w/ wasabi; veggies with dip; and fruit kabobs

Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • If you're current WW members (either in person or online), I believe you can access the WW recipe book. I've found some amazing stuff in there, including a recipe for chocolate chip bundt cake that was only, like, 4-5 points per slice.

    I'm hesitant to offer any suggestions because I know the plan has changed twice since I was last a member...but if I understand it right, fruits AND veggies are now zero points, yes? I think you could do an awesome salad bar with lots of veggie toppings (mixed greens for the base with peppers, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, snap peas, cauliflower, corn, etc.) with a few low-point toppers (fat free feta, WW brand shredded cheeses). Have oil & vinegar and salt & pepper at the dressing (instead of something cream-based, like Ranch or Thousand Island).

    Since you're in FL, I'm gonna guess it's warm enough to grill? I think that's the best way to keep proteins low in calories but still super tasty. Lean steak and/or chicken kabobs with peppers and onions would be yummy. You can control the calories by making your own marinade rather than buying store bought.

  • definately do a salad bar with some grilled meats.
    hummus and pitas are a good munchie, check out Hungrygirl.com too. Or if you have time, go to the bookstore, get a coffee and browse through her cookbooks for more options.

    I'd recommend having a lot of variety of foods and encourage people to use portion control.  Maybe have the food where people aren't going to be 'hanging out' so they are less likely to pick and munch all day. I think this is why I was so successful losing so much weight at Thanksgiving ( I stayed out of the kitchen where all the food was)
